Can Other Players See Mods in FFXIV?
According to the BoardGames Tips site, to OP, technically, the mods are against the ToS because they modify the elements of the game. However, it is important to note that they are only able to give effect to the client-side, not server-side. So, they are not able to be outright detected by the STF or any GMs in-game. The only way people know that you are using mods or other 3rd party tools is if you talk to them about it honestly.
Are Mods Permitted in Final Fantasy XIV?
Before you use mods in Final Fantasy XIV, you probably do not only think whether other people can see your mods, but also you may also think whether mods are permitted in Final Fantasy XIV. First, let’s find out what a mod is. According to the Quora Marketing Games site, a mod or modification can be defined as a modified version of an online video game which is created by changing the original or vanilla code. This is the process of change which is done by fans or players to the features of a video game such as how the game behaves and looks. Usually, the aim of using mods is to create a new content and new look in the world of the game. So, how about mods in FFXIV? Are they permitted?
As explained on Quora Marketing site, mods in Final Fantasy XIV are not permitted and it is based on the Terms of Service. As a player, you are not permitted to mess up any gaming files or the game code.
There are also a lot of players who wonder if they use mods whether they will be banned or not. The answer is yes. So, make sure that you are not permitted to use mods in Final Fantasy XIV so that you will not get banned.
According to the Quora Marketing Games site, there is a FFXIV Discord translator team named Miuna who said that there are people who use mods to take screenshots in the game, people say Miuna hasn’t been taking a stance on this and it is not allowed. On the other hand, there is also a small group of 3D modelers and modders. Usually, they create alternate new weapons, new mounts, characters, armor models and many more and these mods usually do not get the backlash from the developers Square Enix because they do not use any pornographic screenshots on their official Square forum. Nevertheless, there are certain safe methods for modding. However, in FFXIV, it is a risky action.
On the Game Revolution site, it is also explained that if you use any mods in Final Fantasy XIV, it violates the Terms of Services and it can lead to a ban. However, there are client-side mods, such as those which can change textures or the UI, which cannot be detected by Square Enix. So, we can conclude that this game prohibits the players to use mods and it can lead them to be banned, but on the other hand, there is no way for the developers to catch them.
As explained on the Game Revolution site that it seems that Square Enix has turned a blind eye to players who use client-side mods for the most part. If the mod does not give an effect to the server or the game of anyone else, installing mods in Final Fantasy XIV has no risk.
On that site, it is also explained that mods in Final Fantasy XIV are more limited than mods which are found in single-player games. It is better for the players not to expect to add content or change gameplay.
The director of the game, Naoki Yoshida, said that he does not agree with mods, particularly mods which can make the characters nude.
