Changing Your Character Appearance in FFXIV, Here’s How!

To change your character appearance in FFXIV, you can either take one of two options or both. Well, you will be able to change your character appearance through two methods including:

    • Through the Aesthetician
    • Through the Fantasia

To know deeply about both methods to change your character appearance in Final Fantasy XIV, we’ll explain each method below!

Method 1: Through the Aesthetician

Through the Aesthetician

The Aesthetician is the first way that you can change your character appearance. Through Aesthetician, you will be able to change your character’s hairstyle or also hair color. In order to use the Aesthetician,  you may need to unlock it first by completing a level 15 quest that is given by S’dhodji in Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks.

Once you have completed this quest, you can then summon the Aesthetician in any Inn of the game. Then, a FFXIV NPC will allow you to change any basic parts of your character appearance without spending money.

Then, how to complete a level 15 quest? To complete a level 15 quest called ‘Beauty is Only Scalp-Deep’, you need to make your way to the Limsa Lominssa Upper Decks and talk to S’dhodjbi in the Drowning Wench who will take you to investigate a commotion in the city.

In the quest, you will be required to help Jandelaine, a beautician who has somewhat lost the tools of his trade and also his dignity. During completing the quest, you may be made to run around and visit various Disciple of the Hand guilds scattered throughout the different city-states.

You can also take advantage of each city’s airship service if it costs you at the teleportation. At the end of this quest, you can unlock the Aesthetician service and receive a single Jandelaine’s Token.

To access the Aesthetician service, you have to call Jandelaine with the Crystal Bell that is found in every inn room. It’s important to note, if you are queued for Duty Finder or planning on starting an activity, you shouldn’t use this service, as you who are using Aesthetician cannot be contacted in game.

Keep in mind, you may need to spend around 2.000 gil to use the Aesthetician service or one Jandelaine’s Token per use. The good news! Summoning Jandelaine and experimenting with new looks will not cost anything, since you will only be prompted to pay once confirming any changes.

The Aesthetician Service actually allows you to changes:

    • Hairstyles
    • Hair color
    • Eyebrows
      Lip color
    • Tattoo colors
    • Facial features
    • Tattoos
    • Face paint colors

Need to know, there are so many options available when you first created your character not offered by the Aesthetician that will lead us to the other option including all the customization options.

Method 2: Through the Fantasia

Through the Fantasia

The Fantasia is such a unique item added to Final Fantasy XIV that will allow you to change your character’s appearance. To get the Fantasia, there are three ways that you can take, including:

    1. Get Fantasia as a quest reward

You definitely can get Fantasia as a quest reward. The quest you have to complete is ‘The Ultimate Weapon’ , which is the final quest of the original A Realm Reborn storyline. This is only one way to get Fantasia for free.

    1. Purchase the Fantasia

This is the fastest and easiest way to get Fantasia. Fantasia is commonly sold in bundles that are available in the Mog Station and at the Final Fantasy XIV store here. There are three options of the Fantasia bundles, including:

    • Three Phials of Fantasia costs £16.10

If you buy the Heavensward Digital Collector’s Edition, it will give you one Fantasia. To note, you can also buy this upgrade once, so if you need additional Fantasias, you may have to buy them through the usual means.

How to use Fantasia? If you already have Fantasia, you will then use it to change your character appearance. Through Fantasia, you will be able to change your character appearance as if you are creating a new character.

Additionally, you can start completely over from scratch or edit small features of your existing character’s appearance. Here’s how to use Fantasia to change your character’s appearance!

    • First, you may need to choose and use Fantasia from your inventory.
    • Then, unequip your gear and then log out, meaning you don’t have to unequip your weapon.
