Pearls are a rare crafting material that was introduced in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. They are discovered by diving and can be used to craft the Mermaid series, whose DIY recipes can be earned from Pascal by trading a scallop. Also, they are able to be sold at Nook’s Cranny for a total of 10,000 Bells or be given to the player from Pascal as an alternative to craft the DIY’s.
How to Get Pearls in Animal Crossing?
Method 1: Get Pearls While Diving For Sea Creatures
The main method you are able to get Pearls in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is by swimming in your surrounding ocean and diving deep underwater for Sea Creatures by using a Wet Suit. While the Pearl is not officially considered a Sea Creature since that you cannot donate one to the Museum or collect it in your Critterpedia, they are earned in the same manner.
Actually, there is no method to guarantee getting a Pearl, however there are a few tips that you are able to do to help spot one when you are swimming and diving for Sea Cratures. You have to know that the shadow of a Pearl is small and will never move. However the best method to spot Pearls is to keep an eye on the bubble behavior of creatures in the sea. We have discovered that the Pearl in Animal Crossing has a low amount of bubbles relatively rising from the sea floor and it is in a mostly straight pattern upwards. The bubbles for Pearls do not seem to wildly wave from side to side, like several other Sea Creatures do.
Method 2: Trade Scallops For Pearls From Pascal
Besides getting new Mermaid Furniture DIY recipes and mermaid clothes from Pascal once you find a Scallop, there is also an opportunity of getting a Pearl. Apparently, there is no official way to control exactly what Pascal will give you, but ensure to hunt down the Scallops every day until you find him once for a chance at getting a Pearl. If you are willing to time travel, finding Pascal every day repeatedly and hoping for a Pearl from him may be the fastest way to get Pearls. This will be relatively slow due to the random opportunity, but likely more reliable than diving.

How to Sell Pearls at Nook’s Cranny
If you do not want to make the Mermaid furniture, you are also able to sell them to Timmy & Tommy. For your information, Pearls sell for 10,000 Bells each at Nook’s Cranny. But, since the Mermaid furniture is highly sought after and Pearls are hard to discover, you may have better luck selling them for a higher price to your friends or other players online.
Nook’s Cranny returns in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, however with several significant differences. This Nook’s Cranny store operated by Timmy and Tommy. Nook’s Cranny inventory is larger, the hiversions of the store are also called as Nook’s Cranny. A comfortable shipping box outside the store is available at all times to sell items for a reduced value.
How to Farm Pearls
How rare Pearls are in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, now you may want to know the best method to farm them. Unfortunately, there is no official method to farm pearls for pearls in Animal Crossing: New Horizons that does not require time traveling, or adjusting the system clock on your Nintendo Switch to force-skip days. If you want to travel, the only possible method to get pearls will be to grind for sea creatures until you get your daily Pascal meeting. We recommend collecting as many scallops as you are able to trade with Pascal.
No Pearl Museum Donations
Even though being found while diving in the ocean like Sea Cratures, the Pearl is not officially considered a Sea Creature, so you will not be able to donate one to the Museum or equip it in the Critterpedia. For your information, Sea creatures are a type of catchable creature that was introduced in New Leaf, like bugs and fish. You are able to catch them by swimming in the ocean and diving down when directly above a shadow, or swimming underwater. Like fish and bugs, they are able to be donated to the museum upon talking to Blathers, who will put them on display in the deep-sea creatures exhibit. Based on the research, the two fish in previous Animal Crossing games are deep-sea creatures now. Those deep-sea creatures are the octopus and lobster.
