The 2.0 Free Update of ACNH brings us a lot of new additions to explore and enables us to build a brand-new themed island. Recently, outside the huge update, Nintendo also added several minor updates with new hidden items and features. In this page, we are going to share the complete set of ACNH Zodiac Animal Figurines items added in 2.0.4 for the future New Year’s events. Also, we are going to share how to get these Animal Crossing New Year items for 2022, 2023, etc.
Overview
Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH) introduces eleven new Zodiac animal figurines available seasonally at Nook Shopping or from the fortune teller Katrina. ACNH latest update, version 2.0.4, introduced eleven new Zodiac animal figurines to celebrate the Chinese New Year. These new Zodiac animal figurines are only available during the in-game New Year’s event, from December 22 to January 5 every year. Each new Zodiac Zodiac animal figurine costs 1,600 bells each from Nook Shopping.

For your information, the Zodiac ox figurine and Zodiac tiger figurine were already available for purchase in ACNH Nook Shopping, however the newly introduced figurines include the Zodiac rabbit figurine, Zodiac dragon figurine, Zodiac snake figurine, Zodiac horse figurine, Zodiac monkey figurine, Zodiac sheep figurine, Zodiac rat figurine, Zodiac rooster figurine, Zodiac dog figurine, Zodiac boar figurine and Zodiac pig figurine. Each figurine can be bought from the Special Goods section in the Nook Shopping app. Or each figurine also can be bought using the kiosk in Resident Services during the New Year’s event.
Need to note that the players will not be able to buy all thirteen Zodiac figurines at once. Only the zodiac figurine corresponding to the upcoming year’s sign will be available for purchase. For example, because 2022 is the year of the tiger, then the Zodiac tiger figurine is available for purchase from Nook Shopping from December 22, 2021, until January 5, 2022. The players may want to time travel in Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH) if they hope to obtain all thirteen Zodiac figurines without waiting years to get the decorative items.
Getting Zodiac Animal Figurines – Here’s Way
If the players seek a specific figurine, they are going to want to set the date on their console to the appropriate year. For example, the Zodiac rat figurine is available for celebrating the years 2020 and 2032, while the Zodiac ox figurine is available for celebrating the years 2021 and 2033. For note, because the Zodiac boar figurine and Zodiac pig figurine represent the same sign of the Chinese Zodiac, they are available for purchase at the beginning of the year for 2031 and 2043. The figurines are going to continue to cycle, with each figurine being available for sale once every eleven years.
The Zodiac Ox figurine which was added in last year’s winter update in celebration of the New Year for 2021 was the only Zodiac Animal figurine until the 2.0 update that added the Zodiac Tiger figurine for the New Year’s Day for 2022. You were able to buy these zodiac animal figurines using 1,600 Animal Crossing bells at Nook Stop from December 22, 2021, to January 5, 2022.
There is another way for the players who may not want to time travel but still hope to get the Zodiac animal figurines without waiting years. The players are able to visit the fortune teller Katrina at her booth in Animal Crossing New Horizons Plaza at Harvey’s Island after they buy her plot for 100,000 bells. If she gives the player a bad fortune, then they have the option to buy a Purification effect for 10,000 bells. If players do not purchase her Purification effect, then their bad luck will cause them to trip throughout the day and will cause their tools to break faster.
After the players buy a Purification effect from Katrina, she is going to perform a Purification spell to rid the player of their bad fortune. Also, she is going to mail the player a random item the next day, such as the Horseshoe Door Decoration, the Gold Turtle, and Mini Dharma items. Katrina will mail the player one of the Zodiac figurines with the latest update. Aside from that, Katrina in Animal Crossing New Horizons will mail these items randomly, so the players have a chance to get any of the thirteen Zodiac Animal figurines from her without time traveling.
The Last Piece of the New Content – Is it Alright?
An unfortunate side effect of this addition of every Zodiac Animal Figurine is that it may mark the final piece of new content for Animal Crossing New Horizons (ACNH). Previously, we had trusted that minor event or holiday seasonal items might still arrive several times, despite Nintendo announcing an end to major new updates.
That belief was partly supported by the fact that these eleven remaining Zodiac Animal Figurines had been left out of the big Version 2.0 Update and would need to be added via a future update. A probable theory was that Nintendo still intended to support the game with minor holiday items for several times, and the Zodiac Animal Figurines would arrive periodically until then. Unfortunately, that theory does not really hold up anymore because every holiday item has been added to ACNH right now.
Of course, this is only speculation. Apparently, Nintendo has surprised us many times over the lifetime of ACNH. We would just caution that these items being implemented certainly are not a point in favor of any new content.
