As a massive multiplayer role-player game, Final Fantasy actually uses a subscription model. That means you may have to buy more time after your subscription runs out. There are at least two subscription options that you can choose including the Standard subscription and the Entry Subscription.
Do you have a plan to buy a subscription to Final Fantasy XIV? If so, you may need the information on how much FFXIV costs per month. The cost of FFXIV’s subscriptions will vary depending on which services you choose. Let’s find out the information about FFXIV’s subscription costs in our post below!
How Much Does FFXIV Cost Per Month?
You only have to pay for a subscription if you play a purchased version of FFXIV. You can also purchase a shorter subscription or set up recurring payments on Mog Station Site. You may already know that Mog Station is the site which handles almost all of the paid services for Final Fantasy 14.
On Mog Station, you can either buy an outfit or upgrade your games from the standard versions to the collector’s editions. If you buy a subscription through Mog Station, you will have two subscription options, here are they:
1. The Standard Subscription
The standard subscription will cost you around $14.99 per month. It actually offers you discounts if you purchase months in bulk. Aside from that, it will allow you to create up to eight characters per world and up to 40 total.
This option will be worthy for you who want to make a lot of different characters. You also have to choose this option if you want to play with different people across different data centers.
2. The Entry Subscription
The entry subscription will cost you around $12.99 per month. Unlike the Standard subscription, this option does not offer discounts for bulk purchases. If you choose this option, it will allow you to create one character per world and up to eight in total.
We think most people will really need this subscription option, unless you need a lot of characters or plan on purchasing many months at once for a cheaper price.
Here’s a list of service fees!
Membership Tier | Subscription Length | Monthly Price | Max Characters per Server | Max Characters |

Here’s the Beginner Guide of Final Fantasy!
If you are a new player, it would be better for you to start with the game’s free trial. However, this game’s free trial option also offers thousands of hours of introducing the game’s world available on gameplay.
Of course, before you spend a single penny on new expansions and a monthly subscription, it will be worth it for you to play something as involved as FFXIV. In the free trial option, it also includes A Realm Reborn (the game’s base story) and the first expansion, Heavensward. For new players, they will play A Realm Reborn through Heavensward for free without restrictions of a monthly fee.
After you advance beyond that point, you may have to buy new expansions and a paid subscription.
Stage 1: A Realm Reborn
It may be a hard way to inform the beginners that the first 50 hours of gameplay will be a bit before the game gets good. This current version has been trimmed down by at least 13%, however it still can slow. At the start of the game, you may not have friends to play with first, but keep in mind that FFXIV’s community will always welcome newcomers.
In the game, the beginners will have a sprout icon beside their character name. Then, the experienced players will treat new players with respect that are often eager to help.
Stage 2: Create a Character
In creating a character in FFXIV, you will have some options, including:
Race: It determines how you look, but it will not have a large effect on your stats. You can choose Hyur, Lalafell, Hrothgar and Viera.
Clan: It actually offers slight differences between each race, but they will not matter much.
Gender: It does not offer any differences in how each race performs, however Viera are only female and Hrothgar are only male.
After you have made a selection, you can start to design your character.
Stage 3: Choose a Class
After creating a character, you will need to choose a class. This is the biggest early decision you will make. However, your class will determine the play style that you will experience for dozens. Keep in mind, the class you select at the start of the game will dictate where your story begins.
Stage 4: Understand Roles, Classes and Jobs
Even though you have a choice between classes which fall into Discipline of War and Disciplines of Magic, it is very important for you to understand your combat roles. There are at least three combat roles including tanks, healers and damage dealers (DPS).
Tanks will lead the charge in battle which have blue character icons.
Healers will support your team with-spells which can keep your allies alive that have green character icons.
DPS characters will come in three styles including melee, physical ranged and magic ranged that have red character icons.
Talking about jobs, there are at least 20 different jobs that you can select from in FFXIV.
Stage 5: Understand Quests and Icons
Through FFXIV, you will find hundreds of characters with different icons over their heads. At the beginning of the game, you will always focus on the quests that are displayed in your main scenario guide that is shown on the top left of your screen. It will always highlight your next main story quest in the tab beside the red meteor icon.
As a beginner player, you have to focus on the main scenario quest (MSO). You will find the main scenario quest icon that looks like a gold and gray meteor with an exclamation point. However, this quest is the fastest way to level up, so you have to complete the quest as soon as you can.
Of course, there are still other things that you have to understand when playing Final Fantasy XIV such as understanding dungeons, trials, raids, online play and many others.
