The end of Halo 5 and the arrival of Halo Infinite has made a lot of fans really confused about the storyline. This is because the end of the story of Halo 5 still holds many mysteries that might be revealed in Halo Infinite.
In Halo 5, Cortana returns in a much more sinister role that a lot of people assume she’s using the Mantle of Responsibility as well as using her new faction, Created. At the end of Halo 5, Cortana’s plan is unleashed who is last seen on an unknown Halo Installation. Many people assume that an unknown Halo Installation is Zeta Halo in Halo Infinite.
What Happened Between Halo 5 and Halo Infinite?
It does not wonder if you’re also confused about the storyline between Halo 5 and Halo Infinite. The UNSC that is supported by Dr. Halsey and is led by the flagship Infinite created a new A.I. based on Cortana called Weapon in the time between the events of Halo 5 and Halo Infinite.
It is known that the entire purpose was to infiltrate Zeta Halo and perform as bat to lure Cortana in for deletion. Cortana’s weapon was supposed to be removed after the mission’s completion, however she was not.
It is leaked in Halo Infinite, there will be a number of missions that the players should break out such as finding out why Cortana was not removed, along with uncovering the mystery behind what happened to Cortana, defeating the Banished and rebuilding the UNSC.
However, there’s not much explicit information yet about what exactly happened between Halo 5: Guardians and Halo Infinite. However, the UNSC audio logs, especially those from Captain Lasky and Dr. Halsey explained about those events.
Dr. Halsey’s lab assistant informed Cortana’s Created tool over another 16 systems after she sent her Guardians to planets around the galaxy. Unfortunately, there was no way to stop her, Afterwards, Dr. Halsey met with Master Chief and actually believed that he may be the only person who can stop her. Mr. Chief said that the word ‘goodbye’ was the last word that Cortana said to him. That word absolutely haunted Dr. Halsey.
Dr. Halsey and the Blue Team then returned to Reach on October 7, 2559. Then, Master Chief was sent on his mission to break out Cortana. He definitely created Weapon and it was entrusted to Master Chief to see Cortana removed.
At the same time, Captain Lasky redeployed the Blue team for an unknown mission without Dr. Halsey’s knowledge, Lasky also felt that the Spartan team was needed elsewhere.
However, that’s not clear information if this mission refers to Blue Team infiltrating CASTLE Base on Reach that was first revealed in a Halo Waypoint post two years ago. But, it was considered that Lasky’s work sounds different.
Spartan Locke also was tasked to continue a mission that is known as Breaker Trip, although the specific details on what that is are currently unknown. According to some sources, Halo Infinite begins in medias res, meaning there’s already a story that is going on before the players take control of Master Chief.
To be clear, the story is a new story. So even the players who are all trapped in their Halo history will be still confused before the Halo Infinite will make more sense over time.
What Happened to Cortana?
You may also wonder how the condition of Cortana at the end of Halo 5. It is said that Cortana is dead, as was revealed through past Campaign trailers.
Captain Lasky and Dr. Halsey map out a plan to have Master Chief infiltrate Zeta Halo and also use the Weapon A.I to defeat Cortana. In the way of defeating Cortana, they attempted to lure in Cortana, trap her and bring her back to the UNSC Infinity for removal. Cortana’s weapon is also removed.
Unfortunately, something actually stopped the process from carrying through. In Halo Infinite’s Campaign, at least it lasts four hours, assuming that Cortana is dead, although parts of her remain aboard Zeta Halo.
In the Halo Infinite’s Campaign, a lot of players actually see the blue particles swirling in the air and data waiting to run out of energy, when Master Chief traverses the ringworld before creating it down to the surface.
Another interesting thing is that there are times as Master Chief can unknowingly access the date and hear Dr. Halsey and Cortana. Additionally, all of which are memories from the previous games. We could say that, as at least one is taken directly from Halo when Cortana gave warning to Master Chief that the UNSC would try to replace her with another A.I, even one which may look just like her.
One more, in some cases, new dialogue which builds based on Master Chief’s relationship with Cortana including when they first met and as Cortana revealed her name to John-117.
What Does Halo Infinite Bring?
Halo Infinite brings a number of new, gorgeous contents including open world maps, locations and collectibles. The open world of Halo Infinite is controlled through the TacMap that includes discoverable areas which can be opened up by capturing Forward Operating Bases.
It is known each region in Halo Infinite TacMap delivers its own share of collectibles from audio logs to Skulls, also to cosmetics items. Here are the things that Halo Infinite brings:

- Spartan Cores are the kinds of boxes to upgrade Master Chief’s equipment
- Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) allows Master Chief to fast travel back to the location from wherever on the TacMap.
- Mjolnir Lockers are the place to store any cosmetic items for Halo Infinite multiplayer.
- UNSC Marine squads are personnel that are stranded in every region.
- Audio Logs can be found around the map.
- Skulls can be found at various places on Zeta Halo.
- Propaganda Tower is a place where Grunt comms officers preach on.
- Targets are the members of the Banished who have been identified by ONI for Master Chief to eliminate.
- Strongholds are the kinds of locations such as The Tower and Redoubt of Sundering.
