About Street Fighter Game
Street Fighter is a Japanese fighting video game and it is developed and published by Capcom. In 1987, the first game in the series was released. Then, it was followed by six other main series games, various spin-offs and crossovers and also a number of appearances in other media.
As explained on the Wikipedia site, this game is one of the highest-grossing video game franchises of all time. Also, it is one of Capcom’s flagship series with total sales of 47 million units worldwide as of September 2021.
Takashi Nishiyama and Hiroshi Matsumoto are the designers of Street Fighter where this game debuted in arcades in 1987. In this game, as a player, you will control martial artist Ryu to compete in worldwide martial arts tournaments which span five countries and 10 opponents. A second player is able to control Ryu’s friendly American rival, namely Ken Masters.
In the game, the player has the ability to perform three punch and kick attacks. Each of them vary in speed and strength. Besides, the player is also able to perform three special attacks including the Hadoken, Shoryuken, and Tatsumaki Senpukyaku which are performed by executing special joystick and button combinations.
This game was ported to a lot of popular home computers such as MS-DOS. In 1987, this game was released on the TurboGrafx-CD console as Fighting Street. Later, Street Fighter was included in Capcom Classics Collection: Remixed for the PlayStation Portable and Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2 where it was for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox.
Then, in 1991, they released Street Fighter II: The World Warrior. For Capcom’s CP System hardware, it is one of the earliest arcade games and it was designed by Akira Nishitani and Akira Yasuda.
In 1995, Street Fighter Alpha: Warrior’s Dreams was released and it uses the same character designs that Capcom previously used in Darkstalkers and X-Men: Children of the Atom. The settings and character designs are heavily influenced by Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie.
Capcom co-produced a 3D fighting game entitled Street Fighter EX in 1996. In 1998, a sequel was released entitled Street Fighter EX2.
The Marvel-licensed fighting game entitled X-Men: Children of the Atom was released by Capcom in 1994. In 1996, a third Marvel-licensed game was released entitled X-Men vs. Street Fighter.
In 1997, Street Fighter III: New Generation debuted in the arcades on the CPS3. In 2016, Street Fighter V was released exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and PC and it allows cross platform gameplay.
And in this year, exactly on February 20, 2022, Capcom made an announcement that Street Fighter 6 is in development.
