The Railroad uses a secret code system consisting of phrases and symbols which serve as a communication tool. To get the trust of Railroad faction members and continue their storyline, you must understand and use the code. One of the important codes is “The Freedom Trail.” It refers to a trail located in Boston. To reach the Railroad, you must follow a hidden trail marked by a red line symbol.

Complete the “Road to Freedom” Quest and Join the Railroad – Here’s a Way

The Railroad faction keeps their group a secret by leaving clues for those smart enough to find them. That way, someone can join their group. If you think that you are smart enough, make sure you can complete the “Road to Freedom” quest and join the Railroad faction.

There are some places to reach the “Road to Freedom” quest, specifically in Diamond City and Goodneighbor. To acquire the quest, try to go to Diamond City and explore a bit. While you explore the city, you can eavesdrop on a conversation between two residents, talk to Diamond City security, or speak to NPCs who mention the Railroad, to unlock the “Road to Freedom” quest.

The “Road to Freedom” quest will not inform you what to do. So, you must find out the guide by yourself. Do not worry, below we will inform you of the way to complete the “Road to Freedom” quest until you can join the Railroad faction in the game Fallout 4.

How to Solve the “Freedom Trail” Code?

As we explained above, the “Freedom Trail” is such an important Railroad code.

Here is a guide to solve the “Freedom Trail” code:

    • At the first step, you must go to Boston Common.
    • After that, you can start a conversation with the Tour Bot that will provide you with information regarding the Freedom Trail and surrounding area.
    • Then, look down and notice the path of bricks on the ground. It is the “Freedom Trail” that will lead you to all the historic sites around Boston. At each site, you will discover a number with a letter.
    • Please follow the path. Ensure you remember or write down all number and letter combinations you discover.
    • Old North Church is the final location on the path. It is situated northeast of Boston Common. Now, you can enter the Old North Church, and go to the basement. There you will be able to discover a catacomb with a strange dial-lock.
    • Next, you must enter the code by rotating the dial in both directions. the following is the code you must enter; 1R (fReedom) 2A (trAil) 3I (traIl) 4L (traiL) 5R (tRail) 60 (freedOm) 7A (trAil) 8D (freeDom).
    • Each time the indicated letter is set correctly, just press the center button. A hidden passage will open after you input all the letters and press the center button.
    • Afterwards, you can go down the hidden path and reach the Railroad faction inside.
    • Please talk with Railroad members and accept their “Tradecraft” quest.

Once you finish the quest, you will become part of the Railroad faction. Also, you will be able to meet a select group of people in the Railroad, including Deacon, Desdamona, and Tinker Tom.
