In the Animal Crossing series, there is a type of plant that that is included in the series. The name of this plant is called turnip. Turnip refers to the item that is important in the stalk market. There are two kinds of them, the white and the red one. The one that appears in Animal Crossing New Horizons or ACNH is the white turnip only.
Just like any other turnips, white turnip is such a unique plant. Talking about turnips in Animal Crossing New Horizons or ACNH, a lot of people have been wondering if they can plant them in the game. So, can the turnips be planted in the game? To find the answer to the question, continue reading until the end.
Unfortunately, all the players are not allowed to plant turnips in the game known as Animal Crossing New Horizons or ACNH. Basically, there is no way for this to be tended to and grown like a flower of tree or fruits like the likes of apples, pears, oranges, cherries and peaches as they are not the type of plants that can be grown or planted. This makes it different compared to the Animal Crossing Wild World and Animal Crossing City Folk that give players the chance to plant the special red turnips outdoors. In the past, the red turnip seeds were sold by the Joan the turnip seller. These seeds could be planted to plant your own turnips to get profit, even though it needed to be watered every single day to avoid turning them into wilt.
There is no explanation of why the turnips in the game are sterile. However, it is believed that the big farming corporation of Daisy Mae and Joan plays a big role in it so that they can corner the market. The reason actually does not matter because the only thing that matters here is that turnips cannot be planted or grown, at least for now. In the near future, Nintendo might change mind and decide to take the advantage of it by making turnips to be planted in the Animal Crossing New Horizons or ACNH.
If you are as a player of the game want to plant turnips, there is nothing to worry about as there is still a way to obtain turnips. Instead of planting them, the only option that you can do is to purchase them from Daisy Mae. Who is Daisy Mae? Isn’t the turnips seller is named Joan?
Daisy Mae is the name of the special visitor. She was introduced in the game called Animal Crossing New Horizons. This one arrives at the island of the player each Sunday morning starting from 5 AM to 12 PM. Her job is to sell turnips and she takes the role from her granny named Joan that used to be the turnips seller in the previous games of the series.

Daisy Mae is a boar. she is small and has deep orange cheeks. Her hair is brown and she has straight bangs. From her white headscarf, everyone is able to see her small curls peeing out. What makes her stand out among the crowds is her nose drip, the one that hangs from her left nostril.
When it comes to the clothes, Daisy Mae wears a blue dress that looks like a kimono. To make her appearance more perfect, she also has a matching blue apron, which is tied by a red sash, and there is also a bow. A bowl of turnips is carried by her on her head tied on with red string.
In the previous games of the series, Joan, the grandmother of Daisy Mae, was the one that sold turnips. After running the thing known as Sow Joan’s Stalk Market on her own, she allowed her grandchild named Daisy Mae, to become her successor by selling turning starting in the Animal Crossing New Horizons. The girl makes an appearance for the first time on the first Sunday following the completion of a shop called Nook’s Cranny. As a newcomer, she looks nervous and is clearly inexperienced. However, she has a good will and always wants to keep better every day.
Each Sunday morning, Daisy Mae shows up on the island of the player. She lands there to sell the white turnips owned by her family. The price of the white turnips ranges between 90 and 110 Bells. Feel free to buy these in stacks of 10. Before the next Sunday comes, all the things that she brings have to be sold, unless the value will be lost as the white turnips will rot.
After all, it all makes sense why turnips cannot be planted and grown because why should wait for Daisy Mae to arrive each Sunday morning if these turnips are able to be planted and grown?
As a player of the game, you are encouraged to go to Timmy and Tommy to ask the current price of white turnips between Monday and Saturday. Talking about the price, keep in mind that it changes twice each day. You are able to sell these turnips to them in Nook’s Cranny when you feel like it is the right time. If you want to do this, you will have to make sure that you sell them within a week. As stated before, they will be rotten and the value will be decreased if they are kept more than one week. Do not forget to sell them before the next Sunday comes after you purchased them. With that being said, it can be concluded that you will be able to ear a profit on your investment in turnips if you sold them at the right time. In contrary, you might get lost if you keep them for too long as the value will be decreased.
