The first thing that you have to do to customize your clothing, you have to get the Nook Phone from Tom Nook. It occurs in the start of the game and it is part of the story. So, you will not miss it. After you have the Nook Phone, you have to open the phone’s menu and then you have to choose the Custom Designs option. By choosing it, you can create basic designs that you can wear as a sleeveless t-shirt or face paint.
Basic tools and colors are able to be used by you so that you can design your clothes with at first and you can only design one side of the clothing.
Do you want to customize your clothes further? If so, you have to unlock the advanced customization options for clothing. For unlocking it, you have to buy an item from the Nook Stop. Do you know what it is? It is the ATM inside the residence services tent that you are able to use to buy special items with Nook Miles. You will have to buy the Custom Design Pro Editor from the Redeem Nook Miles option at the Nook Stop. The price is 800 Nook Miles and then the ability to design better custom clothing in Animal Crossing can be unlocked.
In the Custom Design Pro Editor, you are able to choose from a variety of different clothing types to make designs for. Those are dresses, t-shirts, hoodies, hats and many more. After you choose the type of clothing that you want to make a design for, you will have access to different panels that represent what part of the piece of clothing that you are designing.
You are able to save these designs and share them with friends through QR codes. You are also able to find designs online that you can download through QR codes and wear in the game. Even though these designs do not take up inventory space, but they take up design slots. You are able to change the designs later and you are able to edit designs that you download.
About Clothing In Animal Crossing New Horizons
In the Animal Crossing New Horizons, you are able to obtain clothing items from Nook, Stop, Able Sisters and various events. You are also able to craft it by using DIY recipes. You can also design your own clothing through the NookPhone as explained earlier.
There are 10 different categories in the clothing and those are Bottoms, Tops, Hats, Dresses, Accessories, Shoes, Socks, Umbrellas, Bags, and Wet suits. You have 9 slots which are used to wear clothing.
According to the Animal Crossing Wiki, now there are 4692 of these items in the game. The first time a specific color of a specific item can be obtained in game, the item shows up in the Catalog, which is able to be accessed from the Nook Shopping section of the Nook Stop. Or, you can do it later in the Nook Shopping app on the phone. Most items which are registered in the Catalog can be bought, but DIY and event items cannot be bought.
