OSRS Skeletal Wyvern Drops

Just like other OSRS monsters, Skeletal Wyverns also drop the item. They are also known as undead monsters, in fact, they’re re-animated remains. Whereas the undead creatures have come back to life, meaning the Salve amulet and its enhanced versions will not work as well.

Items which are dropped by Skeletal wyverns can be picked up by players. Of course, to make them drop the items, you should kill them first. However, level 72 Slayer is required to kill Skeletal wyverns. Additionally, they are also the only monster which drops granite legs. Aside from that, they also drop the draconic visage.

Granite Legs

Granite legs are platelegs and require 50 defence and 50 strength to be worn. You can get this item by killing Skeletal Wyverns. If we compare to dragon platelegs, granite legs actually have a greater ranged defence bonus at the cost of worse melee defences.

Draconic Visage

Aside from granite legs, Skeletal Wyverns will also drop Draconic visage after death. However, this is a very rare drop from many high-levelled dragons as well as Skeletal Wyverns. To create a dragonfire shield, you with 90 Smithing (can be boosted) can combine an anti-dragon shield with a draconic visage. By doing this, it will grant you 2,000 Smithing experience.

If you do not have the required Smithing level, you can take the draconic visage to Oziach in Edgeville who will help you to create the shield for a payment of 1,250,000 coins. In addition to completion of the quest Dragon Slayer I will be required for Oziach to create the shield.

How to Kill Skeletal Wyverns

Skeletal wyverns have high attack, defense, and hit points which make them very challenging enemies. They attack with Melee, Ranged, or ice breath attacks. Need to know, an ice-breath attack here can freeze the players similar to the Ancient Wyvern’s ice spells in addition to providing complete protection and  preventing the accompanying freezing effect, preventing both attacks and movements.

In the way of killing Skeletal Wyvern, you can still eat food and drink potion while frozen. You can also wield an ancient, mind,  elemental or dragonfire shield/ward to remove the wyvern’s ice breath stat reduction as well as lowering its max hit to 10.

You have to use the ancient wyvern shield which gets you immune to the freezing effect of the icy breath. In fighting Skeletal wyverns, armour will not affect the accuracy of the ice-breath attack. However, the ice-breath will beat through all types of armour.

It’s highly recommended to use Protect from Missiles against them as the amount of range damage Skeletal Wyverns do, though it’s not needed if you’re able to safespot them. Considering Wyverns are draconic creatures, sure, the dragonbane weapons are required such as dragon hunter lance on the pound/slash stance and also dragon hunter crossbow which is the best choice to kill them swiftly.

Skeletal Wyverns are one of the only monsters in the game which is not resistant to both dragonfire effects and dragonbone weapons. A dragon hunter crossbow with enchanted dragonstone bolts will be extremely effective against them.

If you want to kill Skeletal Wyverns easily, melee is highly recommended, unless your defence level is low. If you try to kill them with melee, using an abyssal whip or other accuracy slash weapon is a must. Need to know, Wyverns are definitely weak to Magic.

Additionally, the great way to make them unaggressive is to wait in front of the main entrance for 10 to 20 minutes, however, it will make them unaggressive near the entrance. You should be careful not to walk more than a few steps deeper into the cave if you do this way as they will get aggressive again.

As an alternative way, you can bring a few Prayer potions and attack them from seven steps away with Protect from Range on. Well, trapping Skeletal Wyverns on the side of the cave entrance once losing aggression is the most gorgeous way of safespotting that you can do. Sure, by using this method, Skeletal Wyverns can be safespotted.
