How to Restart PS4 in Safe Mode

4. Restore Default Settings: This option allows you to reset your PS4 to its factory settings, without removing app, games or other data.
5. Rebuild Database: This option allows you to add all your content to a new database on the system that can resolve system feature issues like a problem if an app icon does not appear once you have removed the app.
6. Initialize PS4: This option allows you to reset your console to its original settings and deletes all user settings and data.
7. Initialize PS4 (Reinstall System Software): This option allows you to remove your console’s firmware and remove all user data and settings.
8. Set  HDCP Mode: This option is only for PS4 Pro where allows you to apply to images that do not appear on 4K TVs which are not compatible with HDCP 2.2. However, this option allows you to select HDCP 1.40 to see images that otherwise will not appear on your TV.

Alternative 1: Ensure there are no power issues

To start this way, you can check to ensure all of the cables including your HDMI and USB connections are working appropriately. To do so, you can try unplugging PS4’s power cord and plugging it back in.

You also need to unplug the HDMI cord and switch which end is plugged into the PS4 and which end is plugged into the TV. If you find the broken cable, you may need to replace it.

Alternative 2: Rebuild corrupted files

If the alternative 1 cannot solve your issue, you can try to rebuild the corrupted files. To do so, you can choose option 5 on the Safe Mode menu that says ‘Rebuild Database’ and then press ‘X’.
