The Xfinity Voice Remote is able to be programmed to make it works with either your TV and audio or video (AV) receiver, such as a sound bar and the other audio equipment. For those who have Xfinity X1 or Xfinity Flex, here are all the things that should be done to pair the remote with your TV Box so you can control it when it is out of sight.
In order to pair the Voice Remote with the Xfinity TV box, firstly, you will need to point it at the X1 TV Box or Flex streaming device. Then, press the Microphone (Voice) button and say Program remote. Please follow the steps that are shown on the screen. As you proceed everything, you may see the picture of the remote.
Apart from that, you can also press the A button on the remote. Next, select the Remote Setup on the TV. Lastly, follow the on screen guide. After the Voice Remote is paired, please follow the on screen steps to set up the power, volume, and input control for the TV and audio equipment.
If you want to program the Voice Remote to control the TV or audio device, you should press and hold the Microphone (Voice) button and say Program remote. Another way to get there is by navigating to the Settings page, choosing Remote Settings and then Voice remote pairing.
Apart from programming the Voice Remote to control the TV or audio device, you can also use the online Remote Code Lookup tool or the Xfinity My Account app. First of all, go to the https://www.xfinity.com/support/remotes/ and choose the Voice Remove that you have. In case you cannot find the code in the lookup, please check to see if the remote has a Setup button. If there is one, then follow these following steps.
The first thing that you will need to do is to turn on the TV. Then, press and hold Setup until you see the light located at the top of the remote changed from red to green. The next thing is to type 9-9-1 and the light should flash green twice. Please keep hitting CH^ until the TV turns off. Once it is turned off, press Setup in order to lock in the code. Lastly, press the TV power button on the remove. You are all set if the TV turns on.
If you cannot find the Setup button but you see the number buttons (XR15 Voice Remote for X1 or Flex), you will have to turn on your TV. Then, press and hold the xfinity and Mute buttons at the same time for 5 seconds until you see the light at the top switches from red to green. On the next step, enter the first five digit code for the TV manufacturer. The code is correct if the remote light blinks the green twice and the code is incorrect if the remote light blinks red then green. After that, point the remote at the TV and then press the Power button. please turn the TV back on and make sure the Volume and Mute buttons are working properly if the TV turns off or please try the next code if the TV does not turn off.
If there is no Setup button and it also does not have number buttons (XR16 Voice Remote for Flex), please make sure that both the TV and TV Box are on. When everything is on, you will need to activate the remote by removing the pull tab on the back. Then, point the remote at the TV Box and press the Microphone (Voice) button. Next, follow the instructions displayed on the screen to finish the setup. If you are already paired for voice but have to program the remote to control the TV, please just press and hold the Microphone (Voice) button and say Program remote. In addition, you are also able to go to the remote programming guide through the Remote Settings menu.
If the issue is still there, you can perform a factory reset by press and hold the Info (i) and the Home (house icon) button at the same time until the status light on the remote blinks. It usually takes about five seconds. Once it is blinked, press the Power button, then Last (<- arrow), then Volume Down (-) on the remote in sequence in order to complete the factory reset. After it is done, you are able to retry pairing your XR16 Flex remote.
If you want to try to program the remote using the Xfinity My Account app, first of all, you should open the app on your Apple or Android phone device. When it opens, tap the TV icon, pick the TV Box, and then select Setup a remote. After that, choose TV or Audio/Other, and follow the programming guide.
