There are some different kinds of potions that you can make in the game named Minecraft that can give you temporary buffs and abilities. The Potion of Swiftness is one of them. It has the ability to make the player move faster compared to the usual state. For every level, the movement speed of the player can be increased 20%.
This following guide will guide you through how to make a Potion of Swiftness that will last three minutes. It is known as Potion of Swiftness (3:00). Once the time has run out, the effect will disappear and you will return to moving around at the normal speed.

If you want to make a Potion of Swiftness, you will have to gather these following ingredients or crafting materials:
1. Water Bottle
Water Bottle refers to the base ingredient or material to all potions. This one is made with a Glass Bottle. You can just right click on any water source to make it. If it is put in a brewing stand with an ingredient, it will become a potion.
2. Nether Wart
Nether Wart is known as a fungus that is usually found in the Nether. It is really important in the creation of potions.
3. Sugar
Sugar is the name of an item that is able to be obtained by one of many methods, with putting sugar cane in a crafting table as the most popular one. It is also able to be obtained by killing witches or putting honey bottles in the crafting table.
4. Blaze Powder
Blaze Powder can be described as an item that is made from a blaze rod that is usually obtained from blazes. The main function of it is to fuel brewing stands, to brew strength potions, and to make eyes of ender to take you to the End.
Once you have gathered all the materials, it is time for you to make a Potion of Swiftness by following these instructions below:
- The first thing that you will need to do is walk over to the Brewing Stand and put the Blaze Powder in the box furthest to the left. You will not be able to brew the potion if there is no Blaze Powder.
- Then, add the Nether Wart after adding Water Bottle and Blaze Powder. You can do it by putting it in the top box on the Brewing Stand screen. When doing it, you will be able to see the bubbles between the Blaze Powder and the Nether Wart turn white. It means the brewing process has started. Please wait for the Nether Wart to disappear and when it does, it means the step is done.
- The last thing that should be done is to add the sugar to the same box that the Nether Wart was in. Just like the last time, please wait for it to disappear. Once the sugar has disappeared, a glugging noise will be heard, indicating that you have successfully brewed a potion in the game. In the end, you will have the Potion of Swiftness (3:00) in the bottom of the Brewing Stand, which is now able to be added to your inventory.
Aside from the Potion of Swiftness (3:00 – Speed), there is also a Potion of Swiftness (8:00 – Speed). This one is extended to last longer than the 3:00 one. When this potion is drunk, you will be given the speed effect with the addition of more than 20% boost in speed for 8 minutes.

Just like making Potion of Swiftness (3:00 – Speed), there are some materials to make Potion of Swiftness (8:00 – Speed). Here are the required materials that you have to gather:
1. 1 Redstone Dust
Redstone Dust is the kind of mineral that is able to transmit the redstone power when it is placed as a block.
2. 1 Potion of Swiftness (3:00 – Speed)
After all the ingredients or materials to make the Potion of Swiftness (8:00) have been gathered, now follow these steps to craft this potion in the Survival Mode:
- First of all, open the Brewing Stand menu.
- When it opens, add Blaze Powder in the far left to activate the Brewing Stand.
- In the Brewing Stand menu, add items or ingredients in the top box and the potions are made in the bottom three boxes. As stated before, you will need 1 Potion of Swiftness (3:00 – Speed and 1 Redstone in order to make a Potion of Swiftness (8:00 – Speed). Please place the Potion of Swiftness (3:00 – Speed) in one of the bottom boxes in the Brewing Stand menu and then add the Redstone to the top box. After the process of brewing is complete, you will be able to hear the sound and the Redstone will disappear. After that, the Potion of Swiftness (8:00 – Speed) will not be done. In the end, if the Potion of Swiftness (8:00 – Speed) is drunk, you will be given a +20 increase in speed for 8 minutes. At this rate, feel free to add this Potion of Swiftness (8:00 – Speed) to your inventory or you are able to continue and turn the potion into a Splash Potion of Swiftness (6:00 – Speed).
