How to Make a Potion of Harming

Certainly, when you decide to make a Potion of Harming, you firstly have to know the ingredients that you will use to make it. Just like other items in Minecraft, you will also need some materials to craft a Potion of Harming.

A Potion of Harming can be crafting at the brewing stand. It may take a handful steps to completely make it. Aside from the materials you should prepare, you will also need the water bottles to store a Potion of Harming when it’s completely made.

The Materials You’ll Need:

    • Three Water Bottles
    • Glistering Melon
    • Blaze Powder
    • Brewing Stand
    • Nether Wart
    • Fermented Spider Eye

Well, those are all materials you will need to create a Potion of Harming.

Here’s How to Make a Potion of Harming!

Step 1: Look for Glistering Melon

The first thing that you should get is a glistering melon. However, the glistering melon is really needed as a potion of healing first. To get glistering melon, you can plant it by yourself or find melon in a savannah village. You can also buy melon seeds from wandering tracks.

Then, to slice melon into a glistering melon, you’ll need one gold iron. To get it, go into your mines and start looking for below ‘Y’ level 31 to track down some gold.

Step 2: Get Blaze Powder

Apart from the Glistering Melon, you will also need blaze powder to fuel your brewing stand. However, the brewing stand here will not brew potions without fuel. To get blaze powder, you have to build a nether portal and start tracking down your fortress.  If you already have found a fortress, looking around for blazes or a blaze spawner.

Step 3: Find Spider to Create Fermented Spider Eye

To create a Potion of Harming, you will also need fermented spider eye. In order to get the fermented spider eye, you surely have to create it before. To make a fermented spider eye, you will need 1 spider eye, 1 brown mushroom and 1 sugar. You can make it through a crafting grid.

Sugar can be found on sand or dirt which is commonly near riverbanks or simply next to any water source block. If you kindly find any sugar, ensure that you save some to grow your own.

Once you harvest the sugar from sugarcane, now you will need brown mushrooms. The brown mushroom can be found in dark oak forest. They also naturally grow in dark caves, swamp biomes and in the nether.

Now, you should find a spider. The great time to find spiders is in the night. So, wait for nightfall and start finding some spiders. You likely should kill a couple spiders to get the spider eye to drop. However, spider eye drops are not as rare as other mobs drops. Once you find spiders,  place them in storage and get ready to travel to the nether.

Step 4: Look for Nether Wart

Once you successfully get a fermented spider eye, you can then look for Nether Wart. To get it, you kindly have to look for it in the wild as it commonly grows in the overworld. The Nether Wart spawn naturally in nether fortresses where you are able to find blaze.

Aside from finding them in the wild, you can also find them in Nether Fortresses, in chests and beside certain staircases. It will also grow on soul sand. You can also get Nether Wart by brewing it.

Step 5: Gather the Water Bottles

To store the potion, you will need water bottles which are made from glass. To get it, you just simply dig some sand and smelt it in your furnace to create glass. You will then need three pieces of glass to create three glass bottles. If you want to fill water into the bottles, you just simply hold them in your hand and right click any water source.

Here, you also need to place sugar in your crafting menu. With your glass bottles, you can then right click on any water source to fill them up with water.

Step 6: Prepare Brewing Stand

A Brewing Stand is the most important thing that you should need to create a Potion of Harming. Well, this part is such a tricky step as you need to find blaze to get the blaze rod you need. To create a brewing stand, you can combine three pieces of cobblestone and a blaze rod in a crafting table.

Step 7: Start Making a Potion of Harming

Once you gather all materials, you will then start making a Potion of Harming. First, place the brewing stand and right click on the stand to open its UI. You can then fill the bottom three slots with your water bottles. Put blazer powder in the top left slot to fuel your brewing stand.

Afterwards, turn some blaze rods into blaze powder and place them into your brewing stand. Then, place a nether wart in the ingredient slot of your brewing stand and wait for it to completely create it. However, this process will turn your water bottles into awkward potions.

You can now put your glistering melon into the ingredients slot to brew potions of healing. Place a fermented spider eye into the ingredient slot to complete your brewing recipe.

To note, a Potion of Harming is not useful on its own because drinking it can cause instant damage.
