On the contrary, they may ignore you, resulting in the relationship to decrease. If your enemy insults you, the relationship will be decreased even further.

After the gift is given, your enemy will appreciate the gift and the appreciation will show up on the screen. Most of the time, the appreciation is determined randomly. However, the players can sometime predict if one will like a gift. If the appreciation that is given by your enemy is low, the relationship will lower, which may result in an argument with the character. After sending a gift to your enemy, do not get surprised if they reject you. It is normal for them to do that even though the gift is something that they actually like.
In case you fail to become friends with your enemy after the first attempt, do not give up and keep trying. The key to success is patient. Just try it for a few times a year. When you get older, there is a chance for your enemy to become a friend again. However, it is not guaranteed.
