It is explained that as of 2020, there are five different series of Animal Crossing Amiibo cards. The main four series have a total of 100 cards each, with 17 special characters and 83 regular villagers and are available worldwide. With all four modern Animal Crossing games released since 2013, the cards are compatible.
Then, the fifth series named Welcome Amiibo has 50 villager cards. They are returning characters from previous Animal Crossing series. They are only compatible with the new Animal Crossing New Horizons and Animal Crossing New Leaf.

As explained earlier, you are able to use amiibo cards to invite your favorite villagers so that they can live on your island. According to the Nintendo Wire site, here are the steps that you are able to follow to use amiibo cards to invite new villagers to move in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
- The first thing that you have to do is to go to the Resident Services and then you have to visit the Nook Stop Terminal.
- After that, you have to choose Invite Camper and then you need to tap the amiibo card of your villager.
- Now, you have to go to the Campsite, say hello to your guest and then you have to talk with them until they ask you for a favor to give them a DIY furniture item.
- After it is delivered, then they may mention potentially moving to your island. However, you need to wait.
- You have to repeat the steps above for three days. After the third visit and present, you will find that they will be set to move in.
Using Amiibo Cards At Harv’s Island in Animal Crossing New Horizons
