The Pilot of Echo-216 is one of the first characters that Master Chief meets in Halo Infinite. This UNSC pilot saves the Master Chief after his brutal defeat at the hands of Atriox. Based on the research, the backstory of Pilot is told via small details which are scattered throughout the game. The players are given so little about his information at first, even his name is not revealed for the longest time. The only thing the players are acutely aware of is that the Pilot is in a real rush to return home to his child and wife.
Here, the Pilot serves as a bit of an anchor for a majority of the game’s runtime, frequently making the Master Chief from embarking upon what most would consider impossible suicide missions. Despite his shy nature, the Pilot of Echo-216 is persistent, after surviving through a six-month period with not much in the way of the resources on the ship.
Finally, the name of the Pilot is revealed to be Fernando Esparza. Also, it is revealed that he is not a UNSC pilot at all. But, he was only a volunteer contractor for the UNSC who fled the Infinity super carrier once the Banished swept the ship and seemingly defeated the Master Chief. The Weapon’s New Lease on Life
The Master Chief finds that he is holding an AI chip when he was first rescued by Esparza. After inserting it into his helmet, then it is read as a Weapon Containment Device. Although no data is on the chip, the Master Chief is alerted to an encrypted message of unknown origin emanating from Zeta Halo. Quickly, the Master Chief retrieves the source of the signal: an AI known as The Weapon.
Formerly, the Weapon was asked to pose as a security system on Zeta Halo, as serving as a Trojan horse in the system of ring. Meant for removing the rogue AI Cortana, the Weapon would not be able to do that when she found that Cortana had been removed by an unknown source. Also, the Weapon was meant to be removed after the task had been completed, however she was spared.
Like Cortana previously, the Weapon helps the Master Chief in his mission on Zeta Halo, giving assistance by disabling the security systems and commonly contributing a charming and spunky disposition to contrast with the Master Chief usually straight-laced. But, her story takes an emotional change when she finds that she was not built as a replacement for Cortana. She is a copy of Cortana with no any of her memories. In the game, she is described explicitly as Cortana if she and the Master Chief had never met. This brings the Weapon into an existential spiral, fearing that she could suffer from rampancy and also become crazy with power like her predecessor. Fortunately, the end of the story allows a redemption for all involved.
At the end of the story, the Weapon finds that it was Cortana that saved her from being removed. In a last message left for the Master Chief, Cortana says that the Weapon has lots of potential before it fades out.
