Do you want to change the server of the game by miHoYo called Genshin Impact but you do not want to lose the data? Here is everything that you will need to know about Genshin Impact and its servers.
Is it possible to switch or change the Genshin Impact servers?
There are a few different servers of Genshin Impact outside of China. The one that you select will determine the daily server reset time. Apart from that, it will also limit the one that you can play with. The sad news is that it is kind of impossible to add friends from a different server to your own game.
What makes it worse is that once you have begun a game of Genshin Impact and either selected or have been assigned a server, you do not have any other choice and just stuck with that one for that certain UID/Account.
For those who are on mobile, there is an option to switch server that you want to play on, while for the users of PC, the server is assigned based on your location and on PlayStation 4, the account that you have determines it, for example, if you have an EU account but you are playing in America, then you will be assigned the EU server.
What makes it annoying is the fact that once your account has been opened, then that’s it. it is such a shame when there is no way to change without starting a new account, and therefore, a completely new game. In this case, you are suggested to choose your server wisely if that is an option for you.
What should you do to transfer save data and cross play in Genshin Impact?
Transferring save data is only allowed on mobile devices and PC. Everything is as simple as making a miHoYo account before starting the game and using the same account to sign in on a different device. Transferring from Android to iOS to PC is possible, it is entirely cross save.
Unluckily, for the nth time, you are not allowed to transfer save data between servers, meaning you need to choose the same server as your account was initially created on. For the users of PlayStation 4, as of now, there is no way that is able to be used to transfer the save data from the console to mobile or to PC. When the Genshin Impact for the Nintendo Switch version releases, that will also be excluded from save data transfers.
In the future, the situation might change, so please visit the official website of Genshin Impact regularly and do not forget to also follow the representative of Genshin Impact. In addition, you are also encouraged to follow all the accounts related to Genshin Impact and the game in general to get the newest information.
