When you are in the Shooting Stars events in Animal Crossing New Horizons, you may wonder whether there is a limit or frequency of the shooting stars. By knowing this, you may want to know how many Star Fragments that you are able to earn in the game.
The Limit of Shooting Stars
If you are in the shooting stars events, you are able to wish on stars. If there are more wishes that you make on stars, there will be more star fragments that you will get.
Does this event often happen in the game? Shooting Stars events happen randomly. There is no schedule when you can get shooting stars on your island. But, the fact is that it happens at night at 7 PM until 4 AM. Even though there is no set schedule of when this shooting stars event will happen, but Isabelle will inform you during the day’s announcement. So, when Isabelle informs you that at night there will be a shooting stars event, make sure you prepare.
Now, is there a limit of shooting stars that we can wish upon? The fact is that if you can wish upon more shooting stars, you will get more star fragments. However, it seems that the limit is about 20 star fragments. Besides getting star fragments, by wishing on stars, you will also get a Nook Miles.
According to Game 8, each type of Star Fragment has a specific drop rate percentage as you are able to see from the list below.

The drop rate is 85%.

- For wishes made by you, the maximum star fragments are 20 and the minimum wishes needed are 20.
- For wishes made by visitors, the maximum star fragments are 20 and the minimum wishes needed are 100.
- For wishes made by you and visitors, the maximum star fragments are 40 and the minimum wishes needed are 20 from you and 100 from visitors.
The star fragments which can be found on the beach at the same time is up to 10. As explained in Game 8, if you made more than 10 wishes, the rest of your star fragments will appear when time passes. You will get one star fragment for each wish that you make and you are able to get up to 20 star fragments. It means that you do not have to waste your time to make more than 20 wishes during meteor showers because the maximum star fragments that you can get is 20.
If you make 5 personal wishes, you will get 5 star fragments. If you make 20 personal wishes, you will get 20 star fragments. If you make 50 personal wishes, you will get 20 star fragments.
How to Wish Upon a Star in Shooting Stars Event
How do we make a wish upon a star in a shooting stars event? You can do that by choosing a nice place. Make sure that the place has a clear view of the horizon. Then, you have to tilt the right joystick up to look up at the sky. Make sure that you do not hold anything in your hands when you wish upon a star. Then, you have to wait for a shooting star and then press A to make a wish. Do this every time there is a shooting star.
The shooting stars event takes place at 7 PM to 4 AM. However, what day the event will happen is random. However, as explained earlier, Isabelle will inform you during the day’s announcements. So, when Isabelle informs you that at night there will be a shooting stars event, you are able to prepare.
Getting More Star Fragments
Star Fragments are needed to craft something in the game. So, you may really need this item. However, as we know that Star Fragment can be earned from shooting stars event and this event happens randomly. So, how to get more star fragments in this game?
If you are not seeing shooting stars, you are able to find someone online hosting a meteor shower or shooting stars event. On Reddit, Discord, and other places, you are able to find communities which inform you about it. Tools like the turnip can be used to find people with open islands who have Celeste.
You are able to do several things and find falling stars as you can read from the points below.

- If the night sky is clear on your island, you are able to play by using headphones on and setting the volume up. So, you will be helped to hear the twinkling of a star falling. The sound is the same as soft wind chimes.
- You are able to stay outdoors around your island at night. Make sure that you avoid standing near waterfalls and anything which plays music or makes loud noise. In the shooting stars event, you do not need to solely focus on the sky, but you have to focus on listening.
