Way 1: Ensure to use the right browser
Your browser is the software application which allows you to access sites, like Roll20. Although Roll20 will be able to work in a variety of browsers, to maximize your playing experience and take advantage of everything which Roll20 can do, you have to use the latest version of Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. Due to new features, we are unable to support beta versions of web browsers.
Once troubleshooting, you have to check to see whether problems persist when using both Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. If you are a Pro or Plus subscriber, you will be able to access Roll20 on a tablet device. For more information about that, simply visit the Mobile Tablet Support page by clicking this link; https://wiki.roll20.net/Mobile_Tablet_Support.
Way 2: Ensure that there are no extensions or addons interfering with Roll20
As far now, this is the most common cause of issues with Roll20. Oftentimes, third-party addons or extensions (also known as toolbars/adware) inject scripts into all the web pages which you visit. Roll20 is really sensitive to this type of interference as it has many more moving parts than a usual site.
If you see any extensions or addons which you do not recognize, please disable them while using Roll20, or even delete them entirely. You do not need any addons or extensions for your browser to function correctly, so only keep them if they add additional functionality to your browser which you use on a regular basis. You are able to see a list of your extensions and disable or delete them by doing all instructions.
If you are having trouble with images loading or loading problems in general, you need also to ensure that any antivirus or firewall software that you have already installed is not blocking any section of the Roll20 site from loading.
Way 3: Clear your cache
Automatically your browser stores frequently-used pieces of information so that you do not need to re-download them every time you visit a site. Sometimes, there are issues with Roll20 if information from your browser has expired.
If you sync a data such as history or passwords, removing it on your computer is going to remove it everywhere it’s synced. It will be able to remove from other devices and your Google Account.
To remove your browsing data in Google Chrome:
- Firstly, on your computer, you have to open Google Chrome.
- At the top right, you are able to click More.
- The next step is to click More tools. Then, click clear browsing data.
- Please select a time range, like Last hour or All time.
- Now, you have to choose the types of information which you want to delete.
- Lastly, click Clear data.
Note: If you remove cookies and have sync turned on, Chrome keeps you signed into your Google Account. Your cookies are going to be deleted from other devices and your Google Account.
To clear cache in Mozilla Firefox:
- Firstly, click the menu button and choose Options.
- After that, choose the Privacy & Security panel.
- In the Cookies and Site Data option, you are able to click Clear data.
- Please remove the check mark in front of Cookies and Site Data.
- With the Cached Web Content check marked, you have to click the Clear button.
- Lastly, close the about:preferences page.
Also, you are able to set Mozilla Firefox to automatically clear the cache when Firefox closes:
- Click the menu button and choose Options.
- Choose the Privacy & Security panel and then go to the History section.
- In the drop-down menu, select option: Use custom settings for history.
- After that, choose the check box for Clear history when Firefox closes
- Beside option; Clear history when Firefox closes, simply click the Settings button.
- In the Settings, you have to put a check mark next to Cache.
- Now, click ok to close the Settings for Clearing History window.
- Lastly, close the about:preferences page. Any changes that you have made will be saved automatically.
Way 4: Provide a bug report
If none of the above ways resolved the problem, you are able to post a bug report to Roll20 through the Help Center’s web form.
The things you need with every bug report are:
- A detailed description of the problem. The more information you can give, the better able they will be to fix the problem promptly.
- Step by step instructions on how to reproduce the problem.
- Your computer’s settings (Web Browser, Browser Version, Operating System, if Javascript is enabled, your anti-virus software, list of any browser add-ons or extensions enabled)
- Optionally, you are able to include screenshots by using the “Attach a File” link once you are submitting a post.
- A Console Log from the moment you logged into the page through once you encountered the problem.
For your information, a console log is a listing of the activity which Roll20 is doing while you play, so they are able to see anything that deviates from the norm. You will be able to do the instructions below to open your log, then copy and paste everything into your bug report forum post in the Bug Reports section of the forums and they will aid you further.
