The following is what GTL Getting Out offers:
1. Make a Deposit
You can add funds to both your account and an inmate’s account.
-
- Your account: If you make a deposit into your account, you can use it to pay for sending messages to your loved one in prison.
- Inmate’s account: If you add funds to an inmate’s account, they can use it to pay for secure wireless access to the Telmate Tablet. Aside from sending messages or making a call, they can also access games and other entertainment services.
Making deposits can be done either by phone, at a lobby kiosk, on a mobile app, or via its official website. Some of the major credit cards that GTL Getting Out will accept are MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express.
2. Doing Visits
Through GTL Getting Out, you can arrange video visits, a.k.a. video chat conversations. You can take a video visit either at the lobby kiosk, from your home computer, or from your mobile device.
Since you can do this through your account, of course, you have to create a GTL Getting Out account first. To schedule your visit, you may have to select an inmate, location, date, and time.
3. Phone Calls
In addition to making a video visit schedule, GTL Getting Out also allows you to make a phone call or receive it from an inmate. You can also pay for this service by making a deposit first.
If an inmate has a balance on their prepaid account, they can freely call you. But if not, you can call them using the deposit that you’ve added to your account.
There are two alternatives to making phone calls: quick connect and collect calls. With Quick Connect, you can pay for a phone call with your credit card and accept calls from inmates. While collecting calls, you can receive calls from inmates, and they will be billed to your landline phone account.
Note: The additional fees and restrictions of the facility rules may apply for this service.
4. Messages and Photos
There are two types of messages that GTL Getting Out offers: written messages and voicemail messages. The good news is that you can also share photos with inmates, but you can do it only through the Getting Out mobile app.
You can leave a voicemail message by creating a GTL Getting Out account and making a deposit first. Or you can contact their customer service. Make sure to follow the instructions. If the steps are appropriate, your loved one can hear your voicemail messages the next time they pick up the phone.
It’s important to note that the photos you’re sharing are subject to the rules of the facility, and these should be approved by the facility.
