How to Reach Max Light Level in Destiny 2

In Destiny 2, the Light Level is currently known as the Power Level. In the game, the Power/ Light Level is still necessary due to there being some in-game activities that really need the Power Level such as Grandmaster Nightfalls, Crucible: Trials of Osiris and Crucible: Iron Banner.

There are four level caps in Destiny 2 with different power levels for each. The maximum Power Level that may be difficult to reach is the Pinnacle Cap with power level of 1560. Therefore, there are many players who attempt to reach the max Power Level in Destiny 2. What are their attempts to reach the max power level in Destiny 2?

Reaching the Max Light/ Power Level in Destiny 2, Here’s How!

In Destiny 2, the Power Level determines two key things, including:

    • How much damage you can take
    • How much damage you deal

The higher your level is, the greater both of those bonuses are. You may need to take substantially more damage from enemies and deal less to combatants if your Power level is lower than the activity’s recommended level.

As long as you know the sources to get the 1560 cap, reaching the max Power Level in Destiny 2 will be straightforward. To increase your Power Level, you definitely have to get new weapons and armor with a higher Power Level rating.

You can take advantage of all non-sunset loot, as they will increase your Power Level until you reach the soft cap. Keep in mind, the cap will change each season. For Season of Risen, the soft cap is about 1,500 Power.

After reaching the soft cap, you will have to get Powerful Gear rewards from weekly milestones and activities to get gear with a higher level. To ease you get Powerful Gear, the Director will give you a list of every activity.

If you reach a Power Level of 1,550, that means you have hit the hard cap for your character’s level. However, you can further increase your Power Level by getting Pinnacle Gear from Destiny 2 that is currently set to 1,560.

The point is, you may need to get Pinnacle Gear sources in order to quickly reach the max Power/ Light level. Here’s a list of all current Pinnacle Gear sources you will get:

    • Weekly playlist challenges for certain activities, such as Strike,  Crucible, and Gambit
    • Rewards from each of the six Vanguard (Strike), Gambit ranks and Crucible
    • Iron Banner Bounties
    • Obtaining the Clan XP for Tower vendor
    • Latest raid encounter completions (Witch Queen raid due post release)
    • Latest Dungeon (Grasp of Averice) completion
    • Trials of Osiris (seven wins, flawless)
    • Nightfall: The Ordeal reward for scoring 100,000 points or more

Tips to Reach Max Power/ Light Level in Destiny 2

After you reach the Powerful cap with power level of 1550, only Pinnacle sources will grant you progress. If you get hard to reach the max Light/ Power level, you may need to take some tips and tricks that we will show below, here they are:

1. Use a Powerful Sources

To reach the Pinnacle Cap level, as the maximum Power level in Destiny 2, you may need to use Powerful gear to equalize your equipment closer to the average. However, the Powerful sources are slightly common and not particularly challenging.

Here are the sources that you can use to reach the maximum Power Level:

    • Playlist Pinnacles: These sources will only give +1 Power Level, but they are extremely easy compared to the other ones.
    • 100,000 in Nightfall: The Ordeal: Getting a capable group is LFG is pretty easy and most people know how to run it.
    • Exo Challenge in Europa: It can be performed solo and is easy enough. What you should do is to upgrade it to a Pinnacle award via Variks.

Aside from that, you can also filter the table at the top of this post to only view Pinnacle rewards. However, most of those activities are not matchmade, meaning you have to find a Fireteam beforehand.

2. Prime Engrams

You can take advantage of Prime Engrams that are technically unlimited sources of Powerful gear, as long as you play the game a lot. You need to remember that the Power Level of the Engram will remain at the level when it is found, not when decrypted.

Therefore, performing challenging activities will give you more Prime Engrams that can either assist you reach the Powerful cap faster or assist you equalize gear if you are already chasing the Pinnacle cap.

3. Grinding 2 or 3 characters, why not?

If you want to increase your 3 characters, you need to follow the same steps. You just have to begin with your least important character and complete with your most essential character. As soon as you are performed with the first character, you can transfer its highest Power Level weapons to the following character. You can rinse and repeat.

What Are the Light Level Caps Light Level Cap?

The minimum light level cap was increased to 1350, meaning that regarding whether you are a new player or one who has been around for years now. From here, the soft light level cap is set at 1500, meaning as you play the game normally. In this case, any piece of gear you gain will be an upgrade on your currently equipped armor and gun until you hit that figure.

After you hit 1500, you should be ready to be a little bit more involved. From here until the power cap at a 1550 light level, only powerful and pinnacle engrams will offer loot upgrades. That means, you will need to take on completing content, challenging content and other endgame content to increase your performance.

If you manage to hit 1550 light level, there is only one more step before you can reach your maximum potential. To reach the maximum Power Level, you need  to go on the search for pinnacle engrams that only drop from certain weekly quests and difficult content.
