In the world of the game known as Sea of Thieves, leeches counted as baits. They are the kinds of baits that are usually used to catch certain types of fish in the game. If you want to catch certain types of fish in this game and need to get leeches, this post will inform you how to get or find them in the game.
There are a total of two ways to get or find leeches in Sea of Thieves, as follows:
- Method 1: Going to inside Barrels
The first method that you can try to find or get leeches is to find barrels. Barrels, which are also known as resource barrels, refer to objects that are usually found around the game. These kinds of things usually full of a lot of different resources or maps. If you want to get or find leeches, you are suggested to find the barrels at Outposts, Seaposts, and Shipwrecks since the chance of getting or finding them from these barrels is high.
- Method 2: Digging up shorelines with a shovel
The second method that you can try to find or get leeches in Sea of Thieves is by digging up shorelines by using a shovel. This one is recommended when you fail to find them in the barrels. Apparently, this feature has been available since July 2019.
Shovel is the kind of equipment item that Sea of Thieves has. This item is commonly used to dig buried items, including treasure or bait or to bury almost any of them. If you want to find or get leeches by digging up shorelines with a shovel, you can press the Primary Use button. As a player, you have a chance to dig up bait like leeches when hitting the soft ground with the shovel. As stated before, to be able to find leeches, you will have to dig at the water shoreline.
If you are wondering about the kind of shovel that can be used to dig, anything is fine, including Aristrocrat Shove, Fearless Bone Crusher Shovel, Frozen Horizon Shovel, Gilded Phoenix Shove, Mercenary Shovel Onyx Shovel, Reaper’s Heart Shovel, Sailor Shovel, Shovel of The Wailing Barnacle, Silver Blade Shovel, Twilight Hunter Shovel, White Rose Shovel, Wild Rose Shovel, Measly Hoarder Shovel, Notable Hoarder Shovel, Admiral Shovel, Bilge Rat Shovel, Bone Crusher Shovel, Castaway Bilge Rat Shovel, Ceremonial Admiral Shovel, Grand Admiral Shovel, Hunter Shovel, Imperial Sovereign Shovel, Rogue Sea Dog Shovel, Royal Sovereign Shove, Ruffian Sea Dog Shovel, Sea Dog Shovel, and so on.

Stormfishes love to dwell within the treacherous storms. You can tell that you are caught in one by the ringing of the bell of the ship. Not only that, you can also know that you are caught in one by a compass that is spinning out of control.
Unlike some of the other fish, Stormfish are not much divided by rarity. Their regional variants are more varied. Naturally, Ancient ones are found within The Ancient Isles, Shore ones are found along The Shores of Plenty, and the Wild ones live in The Wilds. As for the rare variant, which is Shadow Stromfish, they are most likely to surface at The Glorious Seadog Tavern and Uncharted Island (N-13). The same areas are where you are also able to find the nighttime variant of the species, which is Twilight Stormfish. These two, as well as Splashtails, are the only ones that show up at this location. From the statement, it can be concluded that it will be guaranteed to get a rare when fishing during the day as it will be easy to differentiate a silhouette of Splashtail. If you see the silhouette that is long and flat, do not wait and just abort mission right away and recast.
In addition to Ancientscale and Stormfish, Splashtails, Islehoppers and Pondies are also attracted to leeches, even though bait is not needed to catch them. If you are interested in catching Splashtails by using leeches, you can go to the location to find Stormfish. If you want to get Islehoppers, go to the shorelines of large islands. As if catching Pondies, you can do it in ponds and lakes.
