The Shroudbreaker Tall Tale is the name of the first tale in the storyline of the Shores of Gold. If you are not familiar with it, keep reading the post to be guided about it. Go get a piece of paper and a pen just in case you need something to write down.

Method to Start Shroudbreakers Tall Tale

    1. Firstly, look for the Mysterious Stranger in any tavern. Next to him, you should see a barrel with a book on top of it.

    2. You will be able to see its title and several information about the tale if you interact with the book.
    3. Besides, you will also see the option to Vote for Tall Tale. By voting for the tale, the adventure will be activated.

    4. When it is activated, it is time for you to speak with the Mysterious Stranger and you will be told about the Shroudbreaker artifact.
    5. After that, go to your Radial Map and choose the Shroudbreaker Tall Tale. You should see a series of notes. Please read it and when synthesized, it reveals the goal and every step for completing this mission.

Location to Find the Ship’s Log

As per lore, the Ship’s Log went missing when the Pirate Lord’s ship called Magpie’s Wing was sunk. Apparently, the ship went down close to an uncharted island that is located between The Crooked Masts and Crook’s Hollow. In order to find the island, you have to set your marker coordinates to N13 and go there. After finding it, go to the northwest side and dive in the water. By following the instructions, you should be able to find the remains of the Magpie’s Wing. Do not forget to find the Captain’s quarters and you should see the Ship’s Log inside it. When you see it, bring it with you to unlock the Lost Voyage commendation.

Method to find the Ancient Chest

After having the Ship’s Log in your hand, you will be handed with a series of puzzles, the ones that include directions and descriptions of different islands that you should visit to be able to finally reach the Ancient Chest. Sadly, due to the fact that all the clues are different for every player, it is not easy to go to the exact location of the chest. It will be needed for you to work your way through the island puzzles until you find it. According to some players, they have found the Ancient Chest at Paradise Spring and Cutlass Cay. Apart from that, it is also seen in some other places such as Chicken Isle and Fools Lagoon. After figuring out the island where there is the chest, your focus is to the directions of the log to determine which side of the island to jump off to be able to find it. Keep in mind that the chest should be near the shore. After finding it, do not forget to take it on the ship to open it. Inside the chest, there will be a Totem.

Location to find the Ancient Vault

It should be noted that not each player will find the same totem. There are a total of six Totems that might be encountered by the players and all of them are different. The Totem that they get will determine the island that they have to travel to be able to find the Ancient Vault. Below is the list of these Totems and their locations:

    • Scarab Totem (Crook’s Hollow)
    • Shark Totem (Kraken’s Fall)
    • Boar Totem (Devil’s Ridge)
    • Crab Totem (Unknown Island at N13)
    • Moon Totem (Crescent Isle)
    • Snake Totem (Mermaid’s Hideaway)

After you are there, it is time to find the Ancient Vault.

Method to Solve the Ancient Vault Puzzles

There are several steps to follow to solve the Ancient Vault puzzles, as follows:

    • Step 1: Solve the altar puzzle
      First of all, enter the Ancient Vault and find an altar. Solve the puzzle by opening the last page of the Tall Tale to find the solution to the puzzle. Do not forget to interact with a blo9ck to rotate the symbol until they are in the same order as is seen in your log. When you are ready, light the four braziers surrounding the altar to activate the puzzle.
    • Step 2: Find Vault Medallions
      After passing the symbol puzzle, you should see a map where you find a location to visit. Please dig at the location to find a Vault Medallion and go back to the altar by bringing it. Repeat three times.

You should be able to see the Shroudbreaker in front of you once you are done completing the altar puzzles and retrieving the Vault Medallions. Upon seeing it, get it and go to your boat. Make sure to watch out for the pesky coral skeletons that will right after you as you try to escape from the area. At the time, you will be noticed that you have unlocked The Key to adventure commendation. All that you have to do is to take the Shroudbreaker to the Mysterious Stranger and you will finish your Tale and unlock the next called The Cursed Rogue. Besides, you will also be given the Shroudbreaker commendation by the stranger.

Rewards of Shroudbreaker

After successfully completing the Shroudbreaker Tall Tale for the first time, you will be rewarded with the Pirate Lord’s Hat cosmetic. Not only that, you can also get the Magpie’s Wings Cannons as long as you complete Shroudbreaker 5 times and find the 5 Shroudbreaker Journals.

To be able to find these 5 Shroudbreaker Journals, it is a must for you to have the Shroudbringer Tale active. The locations where you may find them include N13 Reef Island – Northwest beach (Journal #1), Ancient Spire Outpost – in a candlelit cave inside the north spire (Journal #2), Devil’s Ridge – by the cannon to the North (Journal #3), Thieve’s Haven – in a crate under a hut on the NW side of the inside of the island (Journal #4), and Plunder Outpost – in the rowboat by the Gold Hoarder (Journal #5).
