When you try to fish in Sea of Thieves, you do not only think of what bait that you need, but also you need to know the best spots for fishing so that you are able to catch fishes. Here are some best fishing spots in Sea of Thieves according to the Gamers Decide.
Rowboat
You are able to find the rowboat washed ashore on a lot of different islands. The rowboat is able to be used for many purposes such as bringing a lot of treasure to and fro, sneaky combat maneuvers and fishing. As you know that when you are fishing, it will take a lot of time. So, you have to make sure that you cannot be found by any enemies.
By taking a rowboat out to sea right outside their range can allow you to catch fish safely. Besides its safety, this rowboat is a good place to catch fish because it has a storage chest which can be found right at the back. You are able to hold 5 food items at once. However, fishing can give you the chance to add one by keeping a caught fish on your line, but at an absolute max you are only able to carry 6 fish at once. If you are a casual fisher, it may be ok for you. However, if you are the true blue Festival of Fishing die-hards, you may want something with some storage space.
Outposts
As you know that after you load the game, you will spawn in an outpost tavern with a basic ship. Then, you and your crew have duty to set up and load out. In the outposts, there are not only wood, food and cannonballs, but there are also a lot of spots to dig for all kinds of bait. It means that wherever you spawn, you will have the chance to dig for bait in the outpost. Grass, beaches, and dirt will give you the bait that you need for any species that you want to catch.
Mermaid’s Hideaway
If you sail to Mermaid’s Hideaway, you are able to find that it is a safe place to catch fish. On the island, there is the Pondie pond which is protected by a large rock formation in the middle. With this condition, it is impossible for enemies to spawn on top of you and ruin your fishing time. In addition, this island has 4 different fish that you are able to catch. There, you are able to catch Splashtails, Plentifins, Pondies and Islehoppers. Here, there is plenty of room to dig for bait. We can say that this is a good spot if you want to begin to level up your Hunter’s Call.
Sea Posts
Another great place for fishing in Sea of Thieves is a sea post. You can collect enough of the right bait and then cut your journey down significantly by catching fish at the sea post. You can jump real quick on your ship to cook and then sell it back at the sea post. So, you can pull up a chair, take a seat beside the other fisherman and then cast right off the dock easily. You can find sea posts in every region. If you catch fish in sea posts, there are not PVE enemies who will spawn on the island. Besides, sea posts are not a hotspot for PVP so that the risk for combat is almost zero. However, you have to take a look sometimes because some stealthy pirates may be lurking for an easy score while you have your back turned casting off.
The Crow’s Nest Fortress Pond
Usually, forts are used to stock up on supplies and gunpowder or to fight waves of skeletons while another ship approaches the chaos to take you out. However, you are actually able to use the fort to catch a fish as well. If you catch fish in forts, you can get some fishing advantages. If you are at an active fort, you can cast your line baited with grubs into the water and you will have an opportunity to catch a Battlegill. If you go to the Crow’s Nest Fortress, you will not only be able to catch fish for Battlegill when active, but also the pond in the center of the island is a good place for spawning Bright Pondies. With a short distance to reel in and a high spawn rate, you are able to ask your crew to deal with the skeletons while you relax, cast off into the water and then you can add some rare fish to your collection.
Crook’s Hollow
If you know your spawns, you are able to sail to Crook’s Hollow and then you can fish during the day to catch the raven and the nighttime variant of the Islehopper. Even though it does not guarantee you a Raven off the first cast, but the spot is able to guarantee that every Islehopper that spawns will be a Raven variant.
East Cursewater Shores
Are you a true hunter of Devilfish? If so, you surely know that they are only able to be found in the Devil’s Roar and that when the volcanoes begin to erupt, it is the good time to allow that catch on the line go. However, if you are looking for Devilfish and you do not want to be bothered with volcanic rocks which are hurled in your general direction, you can go East to Cursewater Shores and then you need to go a little bit further East. On this island, Devilfish spawn right off the coast. The island is also hidden enough so that you and your ship will be safe. So, we can say that it is the safest spot to catch Devilfish. Besides, this island is a big enough island so that you are able to hop ashore and dig for more grubs if you run out of bait.
Sea Dog’s Tavern
Do you see a storm brewing around the Sea Dog’s Tavern in the middle of the map? If so, you can lower the sails and go there. It is because if you go there, you are almost guaranteed that any Stormfish that you catch will be the rarest kind namely a Shadow Stormfish.
