What Is the Darkness in the Light Reward?
In Destiny 2, the Darkness in the Light is an exotic side quest that you will get by speaking with the Drifter in the Tower once you unlock the Gambit and completing the prologue missions in the game.
The Darkness in the Light side quest is relatively simpler to obtain, but it will challenge you to solve. After you successfully complete the quest, you will earn a certain reward.
The rewards you will get after completing this side quest is the exotic weapon Malfeasance. This is an exotic hand cannon which is considered one of the better hand cannons in the game.

How to Complete the Darkness in the Light Quest?

Objective 1: The Seething Heart
For the first objective, you need to speak with the Drifter in the Tower and bring the Seething Heart back to this NPC.
Objective 2: City of Secrets
You have to defeat 25 Taken bosses or minibosses in search of clues in the Dreaming City, no other NPCs count.
Objective 3: The Corrupter
You need to help the Drifter to track the thief who stole from him. To finish the mission The Corrupted, you need to complete the strike – the corrupted that can be found in the dreaming city. During the quest, you may need to find Callum’s grave and take the depleted weapon core.
Objective 4: The Depleted Weapon Core
In this step, you need to bring the Depleted Weapon Core to the Drifter, after you have picked it up.
Objective 5: Business As Usual
This section allows you to jump back into Gambit to complete this quest. You may also need to play a few matches and deposit around 400 motes in Gambit and win 10 Gambit matches.
Objective 6: Lights Out
In this section, you need to stay in Gambit and either kill 4 enemy invader 3 times or invade and defeat 25 guardians during Gambit matches.
Objective 7: Dark Weapon Core
Once you complete the missions in Gambit, you need to return to the Drifter in the Tower and speak with him. After you speak with him, he will give you the gun Malfeasance, as a reward.

What Is Malfeasance in Destiny 2?
In Destiny 2, Malfeasance is described as an Exotic hand cannon that was introduced in Destiny 2: Forsaken. As we’ve described, Malfeasance can be obtained by completing the Darkness in the Light quest where you may need to play Gambit Matches.
Gambit means a multiplayer game type that is introduced in Destiny 2: Forsaken run by The Drifter, a rogue Guardian. Moreover, Gambit is a hybrid PVE/PVP mode which features two teams of four. The teams will be separated into different areas and have to kill waves of enemies to gather Motes.

You can also upgrade Malfeasance with the following perks:
- Column 0 – Explosive Shadow
To upgrade Malfeasance weapon, you can do it with Explosive Shadow by shooting tainted slugs that burrow into the enemy. Then, you need to stack enough slugs to cause them all to explode.
- Column 1 – Corkscrew Rifling
With a Balanced barrel, you can slightly increase range and stability and also increase handling speed.
- Column 2 – Extended Mag
To upgrade Malfeasance, you can use Extended Mag, as it has a greatly increased magazine size, but it reloads much slower. However, it greatly increases magazine size and also decreases reload speed
- Column 3 – Taken Predator
With Taken Predator, the bonus damage against Taken enemies and Gambit invaders.
- Column 4 – Heavy Grip
This grip is weighted for recoil control that can increase stability and decrease handling speed.
- Column 5 – Tracker Disabled
In column 5, there is no tracker that is displayed on this weapon.
- Column 6 – Crucible Tracker
Malfeasance weapon will track the number of Crucible opponents that you defeated with it.
