Sea of Thieves makes it possible for everyone to have fun playing the game with their friends. According to the Reddit users, the quickest way to find the same server as friends is to get a friend to join your boat and then leave and find a new server. By following the instructions, you will be able to either find a new server or get on the same server but on a different ship.

Then, how do you play with friends on different ships? For those players of the game called Sea of Thieves who want to play with friends on different ships, you will have to communicate with them. There are a total of two ways to communicate with your friends. The first one is through text chat and the second one is via voice chat.

Text chat

If you have access to keyboards, you can type Custom Chat messages to your friend within the game. Keep in mind that your friend will also be able to do the same thing if they have access to keyboards. If there is no access to keyboards, there is the Pirate Chat Wheel Menu that can be used to perform a lot of phrases in the chat. There are messages in the Pirate chat wheel for a lot of different situations. Everything depends on the kinds of the items, treasures, or equipment that you are interacting with or the location you are at. While the chat messages are shown for every crew member all day and all night long, the other pirates are only able to see the messages that are posted in close range to them. With the Accessibility Settings, you are also allowed to turn on text to speech to text for chat messages.

Voice Chat

If you and your friends have microphones, these can be used to communicate with each other. Just like the text messages, each voice chat is available to every crew member or to every pirate of the other crews who are nearby. The voice will get lower the further you move from a pirate of the other crew. As a player pirate, you can actually increase the volume and range with an item called Speaking Trumpet. It should be noted that this equipment does not work with text chat and only charges pirate chat messages to all caps.

By default, the microphone is on. If you want to access Voice Activation, it will be needed for you to turn it off.

In addition to these methods, you are also able to communicate with the other players with weapons and actions.

Weapons refer to the items that are usually used to fight against the opponents or the other players. As a player of the game, you will be able to carry 2 out of 4 weapons that are available in the game whenever you want. By using an Armoury that is found on every ship, on the Ferry of the Damned and outside the entrance of Weaponsmith’s Shops, it is possible for these weapons to be swapped.

If you are a new player of Sea of Thieves, you will automatically be handed the basic Sailor Cutlass, Sailor Pistol, Sailor Blunderbuss, and Sailor Eye or Reach. All of them are available and free to use at the very start of the game. As for the Cutlass and Flintlock, these two are equipped by default. For your information, the Flintlock, Blunderbuss, and Eye of Reach holds 5 shots worth of ammunition at one time. If you want to use one of them, you should refill it. To be able to refill the ammo, you can do it at an Ammo Chest or Ammo Crate. There are also Tridents of Dark Tides. They are everywhere in the game, even during A Pirate’s Life Tall Tales. It is stated that these tridents have the ability to fire charged bubble shots.

    • Brigantine: Brigantine is described as a medium ship that is able to be used for a maximum of 3 crew members. Basically, the size of it is between the small Sloop and the big Galleon.
    • Galleon: The Galleon is the kind of big ship. This one is able to accommodate a maximum of 4 crew members. For these crew members to operate it efficiently, teamwork is needed. Compared to the first two, this ship makes slower turns and requires more energy to raise the anchor. What makes it better compared to the others is that it is better armed and the chance of it to sink is lower.

In addition to these three, actually, there are two others more: Skeleton ships and Ghost ships. However, no one of these two is able to be played.
