Archons Rival Genshin Impact

Archon’s Rival is a quest part of the “The Chalk Prince and the Dragon event.” It is revealed that Durin was considered to be strong to rival the Anemo Archon, describing why the Fatui appeared upon receiving intelligence of the sword which contains Durin’s powers.

The Chalk Prince and the Dragon Guide

The Chalk Prince and the Dragon is a new event of the Genshin Impact game. It is available upon download Genshin Impact update v1.2. Apparently, there are four Acts to The Chalk and the Dragon event. But, every two/three days, the next Act is going to become available. Below are the dates of when this occurs.

• Act I Start: After updating to Genshin Impact Version 1.2.
• Act II Start: On December 25th, 2020, 04:00 (local time).
• Act III Start: On December 28th, 2020, 04:00 (local time).
• Act IV Start: On December 31st, 2020, 04:00 (local time).

What are the rewards for The Chalk Prince and the Dragon?

Upon playing this event, you are going to unlock a 4 Star Sword, the Festering Desire. As well as obtaining three kinds of Essences: Warm Essence, Glimmering Essence, and Miraculous Essence. The amount of Essences obtained from completing the challenges within the Acts depends on your World Level. The higher this is, so the more rewards you are going to get.

The Essence you got can be used to buy an assortment of items from the Event Shop, including a new type of material named Festering Dragon Marrow, which is a refinement material for Festering Desire. Also, you are able to purchase talent Level-Up materials, EXP materials, Weapon Ascension Materials, and the Crown of Insight.

What are bonuses on the Festering Desire?

The Festering Desire gets 3 bonuses during this event, however it is only active during this event, meaning that after the event ends, so do the bonuses. Whoever collects the sword will be able to get the bonuses the weapon offers. But, the abilities activate after completing all the challenges in Act I, Act II, and Act III. The character who collects this weapon during the event will be able to deal 60% more Damage to enemies in the Dragonspine region.

The character who gets this weapon during the event will be able to accumulate Sherr Cold at a slower rate. They are going to get a 35% extra Critical Hit Rate against the enemies in the Dragonspine region. During the event period, Festering Desire gets an extra 1.5 Enhancement EXP. But, Festering Dragon Marrow has to be used to achieve Refinement Level 5.

The Chalk and the Dragon Prince Act I

As soon as Genshin Impact update 1.2 has been downloaded, you have to complete the quest Festering Desire. After this has been completed, Act I challenges are going to become unlocked. After Act I challenges are unlocked, the monsters throughout the Dragonpspine region are going to drop Rime-Worn Fragments and Rime-Worn Crystals once killed, even though it is no easy feat. You have to gather a fair number of those new materials to achieve the challenge goals. But, after the challenge has been completed, beating the monsters will no longer drop Rime-Worn Fragments or Rime-Worn Crystals, which is a good indicator that the challenge is done. If you are able to complete this first Act, you are going to unlock the first ability of Festering Desire.

The Chalk and the Dragon Prince Act II

This event starts on December 25th, 2020. You have to complete the quest Archon’s Rival to unlock Act II challenges. If you complete these challenges, you are going to get the first tier of the Essences, Glimmering Essence. A new icon will appear on the map, head to this new place named the Testing Grounds. Simply, you are able to enter the Dragonspine region. Once you get there, please activate the mechanism to start the challenge. When the challenge begins, swarms of opponents will appear. But, those opponents are buffed from the Dragon Force from the Ley Lines. It means that those opponents are tougher than normal. The Snowstorms are going to start to appear simultaneously that will cause you to accumulate the Sheer Cold Status effect, despite there is a Ruin Brazier nearby which will keep you warm.

Unfortunately, the opponents are able to attack this brazier and temporarily stop it from functioning, so your primary priority is to stop this from happening. Just protect the Ruin Brazier at all costs. After that, the opponents have been defeated, the challenge is completed, and then you are going to be rewarded with Glimmering Essence. For note: The amount awarded depends on your World Level. After the Act II challenges are done, the Festering Desire will be able to have another ability activated.

The Chalk and the Dragon Prince Act III

The Act III begins on December 28th. You have to complete the quest Raiders Amidst Snow Mist to unlock the Act III set of challenges. After completing this Acts challenge, you are going to get the second tier of Essence, Warm Essence. You are going to see a new icon on the map. Please head to this icon to find the Draconic Pilgrimage area. Upon starting this challenge, a Warming Seelie is going to appear and then start moving forwards following the Dragon Force within the Ley Lines. Now, you have to follow this Seelie and beat any opponents which appear. Of course, due to the Dragon Force, all opponents will be buffed once again. Fortunately, the Warming Seelie will drop Scarlet Quartz on the odd occasion, which you are able to buff yourself up to deal additional damage to those monsters.

When the Warming Seelie has reached its destination, the challenge will be complete. Then, you are going to get a reward; Warm Essence. After this challenge has been done, the third and final ability for Festering Desire will be activated.

The Chalk and the Dragon Prince Act IV

The Act IV begins on New Year’s Eve, on December 31st. The players have to complete Uninvited Guests to unlock Act IV’s challenges. Similar with other acts, this new location also will be marked on the map. Upon heading to this icon, you are going to discover the next challenge and get the final tier of Essence.
