However, there is something you need to pay attention to. If you have a negative balance but you want to close your account, you may have to take care of it by paying the difference first. Afterwards, you can start deleting your Chime account.

Here’s step-by-step to delete your Chime account!

Step 1: Unlinking your Chime accounts

The first step you need to do is to unlink your accounts from Chime. It will be necessary if you want to prevent any potential extra fees which may come as a result of the money being moved. Need to know, the accounts that are linked to Chime may be different cards, just like other banks.

It is very important to take care of this step immediately as the additional fees can be quite a hassle, so you can close your account smoothly afterward. To make things easier, you may have to transfer the money to your other accounts. For example, the money can be transferred to PayPal or Cash App, depending on which one is more convenient for you.

Once you transfer the money, you can then unlink every account which was linked to your Chime account. After it is done, you can then look toward requesting account deletion.

Step 2: Send email to Chime

After unlinking your accounts and you are ready to remove your Chime account, you can then contact the company by sending them an email to tell them that you want to delete your Chime account.

Here’s how to send email to Chime!

    • First, open your email account that you have registered on Chime.
    • Then, enter the email address
    • After that, you can compose an email and make it clear that you really want to delete your account without rambling too much.
    • Don’t forget to type ‘Account Deletion Request’, ‘Request to Remove My Information and Cancel My Account’ or also ‘Request to Delete my Chime Account’ on the Subject. Well, the subject is short, but it gets the message across quickly.
    • Last, you can send the email by clicking the ‘Send’ button.

Of course, you need to provide the Subject of Message to allow Chime to know what this is about without having to open the email. That is why it is very effective. Well, it can really help them check your email as soon as possible.

In the email you send, you need to include the details of the account you want to delete. Therefore, you need to offer them your account name, your account address and your Chime account number.

Step 3: Call the Chime Customer Support

Once sending them an email, you need to wait for an indeterminate amount of time. However, if you already wait for a very long time and don’t know what is happening to your Chime account, you can try to make a call to Chime Customer Support at 1-844-244-6363.

As you call Chime Customer Support, it is very important for you to have all the reference numbers which have been emailed to you. By doing this, you can offer the details to the staff when they request them. During a conversation, you may need to ask about the status of your account and then how long it will take before the account is stopped.

If too many days pass and you do not get an update, you surely need to call them again and ask about the status. However, getting your Chime account deleted as soon as possible is very needed, since the longer the account sits unused, the riskier it is since any subscriptions and recurring payments you may have will keep going.
