Way to Mute Entire Google Chrome Tabs So There’s No Audio Sound
- Firstly, open Chrome.
- When it opens, type the following address in the site address alias address bar: Chrome://flags/#enable-tab-audio-muting and then press Enter.
- Please click the blue “Enable” icon in the “Enable tab audio muting UI control“.
After enabling this feature, this option will remain active every time the Chrome browser is used and all of your open Chrome tabs will not have sound even when you play video on Youtube or join a Space on Twitter.
Way to Mute Only One Google Chrome Tab
- Find the tab with the speaker icon on it. This icon indicates that this Web page is playing sound.
- Right-click on the tab that you want to mute and then choose the “Mute site” menu.

The additional Chrome extension can be used to mute multiple tabs at once or mute all open Chrome browser tabs. One of the extensions that can be used is called Mute Tabs. This one is free to download and install.
- Firstly, open a browser called Chrome and then go to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mute-tabs/flijakpnjdklhnlceokechmjabmgfije.
- It is important for you to make sure that you are logged in to your Google account. If it is not the case, then please log in first.
- After logging in, click the “Add to Chrome” button to download and automatically install this extension in your browser. Please follow the guide that shows up on the screen.
- After installing it, use the following key combination to take advantage of its features:
– Mute all/unmute all audio: Alt + Shift + Comma
– Mute/unmute audio: Alt + Shift + M
– Mute all but 1 tab: Alt + Shift + N
