When you are trying to log in to your Instagram account, you may get this error message pops up, “Please wait a few minutes before you try again.” Or maybe you are trying to view your Instagram feed, but it only shows the error message. It will be frustrating as you may not know the cause of the error, and how to fix it. You might have done something that caused the error. In this page, you will learn how to fix it.
Fix The Error: “Please Wait A Few Minutes Before You Try Again” on Instagram
Whenever you encounter that issue, Instagram has blocked your IP address. So, even if you try uninstalling and reinstalling Instagram, it cannot fix the issue. There is a huge misconception that uninstalling and reinstalling Instagram fixes the error, but that is not true. Not everything can be fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling Instagram. Similarly, clearing the app’s cache cannot work as well, it does not clear your IP address. Also, updating the Instagram app will not be able to fix it. So, how to fix that issue? Here are some methods that you can do:
Method 1: Switch your Mobile Network
The first method to fix that error is by switching your mobile network. If you are using your mobile data, you are able to try connecting to a WiFi. On the contrary, if you are connected to a WiFi, you are able to try switching to mobile data. You have to know that the IP address on a WiFi and cellular data is not the same. So, if you switch from one network to the other, your IP address will be able to change. If you encounter this issue, your IP address has been temporarily blocked. It means that you will not be able to log in to your Instagram account or see your feed for the duration. But, if you switch your mobile network from WiFi to mobile data, and vice-versa, the error message can be fixed. So, if you are having that error message, do not hesitate to switch your mobile network. It is the best bet to fix your problem.
Method 2: Use a VPN
The second method, you are able to try using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to fix the error. If you connect to a VPN, it can hide your IP address from Instagram. This means that if you are connected to a VPN, Instagram will not be able to detect your IP address. If you have been blocked prior to using a VPN, Instagram has already blocked your IP address. But, if you connect to a VPN after, Instagram will not be able to know your IP address, and the error message will be fixed.
Now, you are able to download a VPN on your device by searching for “VPN” on the Google Play Store or App Store. Most of those apps are free to download. As a VPN uses a different IP address from your own, Instagram will not be able to tell that you are using the same device. As such, you will be able to log in or see your Instagram feed again.
Method 3: Wait it out
Another method, if you have got the error, you are able to try waiting it out. Usually, the error message lasts for a few minutes. So, if you are not rushing to access Instagram, we highly suggest you waiting for the error message to be fixed. The error message is only a temporary block to your IP address, so you do not need to worry about it being permanent. If you want to be extra cautious, please do not use the app for 24 hours, and try logging in after. You should be able to login to Instagram and view your feed.
The Ways To Prevent The Error
It is time for you to learn how to prevent it. Of course, it is always best to prevent the error as you will need to go to the trouble to fix it. We get information that there are two main methods to prevent the error.
Stop logging in and out repeatedly
Firstly, you have to stop logging in and out repeatedly on Instagram. Usually, this occurs if you are using multiple devices. For instance, if you are using a desktop and a mobile device, you must only login to one at a time. Logging in and out repeatedly can cause Instagram to block your IP address, so you have to make sure that you stop it.
Do not use third-party apps
Secondly, you have to stop using any third-party apps, tools, or automation. This is especially if you are using multiple third-party apps. There is a limit to the number of third-party apps which you are allowed to log in on Instagram, and your IP address might be blocked if you are logged in to multiple. To prevent this, you are able to log out to all third-party apps. In alternative, you are able to repeal third-party apps which are connected to your Instagram account on the desktop or mobile device.
Here is how you can repeal third-party apps on a desktop:
- At the first step, log in to the Instagram website on your desktop.
- Please go to your profile and then tap on settings.
- After that, tap on “Apps and Websites”, then tap on “Remove” to delete any third-party apps/sites.
Here is how you can repeal third-party apps on a mobile device:
- At the first step, go to your Instagram profile and tap on the menu icon at the top-right hand corner.
- After that, tap on settings, and then choose “Security”.
- Now, you are able to tap on “Apps and websites” under Data and history, tap on “Active”, then tap on “Remove” to delete any third-party apps/sites.
Now that you removed unauthorized apps and sites, you will be logged out from them.
