Do you want to browse on Roblox or play games on Roblox as a guest? In the past, it was possible to do that. But, how about now? Is it still possible to access Roblox as a guest?
Guest Feature in Roblox
According to some online sources, it is impossible for you to browse or play games in Roblox as a guest for now. It is because the guest feature in Roblox was removed. So, people cannot be guests anymore in Roblox. The removal of guest feature is actually gives an advantage to the developers of Roblox. It is because after this feature was removed, a lot of people signed up for Roblox. Without signing up, people cannot enjoy Roblox.
This Guest feature was created to allow newcomers in Roblox to test Roblox before they create an official account. Firstly, this feature was introduced on September 26th, 2008. Then, on October 2nd, 2017, Guest feature was officially removed.
In the past, if you hover the mouse over a guest image when seeing game servers, the name used to appear as A Friendly Guest. It was changed to A Roblox Player before the Guest feature was deleted. If you joined a game and you did not log into your account, you would be labeled as a Guest.
As explained on Roblox Wiki, you were able to be a guest in Roblox by using glitches or using trustworthy unofficial extensions where it permitted you to play as a guest. However, in early November 2018, it was patched.
The Functionality of Guest Feature in Roblox
According to Roblox Wiki, here is the explanation about functionality of Guest feature in Roblox. From 2008 to 2015, as a guest, you were able to talk only by using safe chat words. In 2016, the Safe Chat feature was removed so that if you played as a guest, you were not able to talk. It meant that guests needed to create an account to be able to chat.
From June 2017 to October 2017, players who used the Guest feature were only given 20 trial plays before they created an account on Roblox. Before this date, people had unlimited trial plays. It was done by Roblox to encourage people to try out the game and then eventually they created an account to be able to play on Roblox. There would be a notification which appeared for people who played as a guest. This notification appeared to remind them of the number of trial plays remaining.
There were three avatars for Guests in the past. The first one was the avatars of BillyBloxxer. It was for guests who signed themselves up as male. The second one was BettyBloxxer. It was for guests who signed themselves up as female. The third one was DefaultGuest. It was for guests who did not state their gender.
The Appearance of a Guest in Roblox
In 2008, guests were firstly introduced. At that time, they came up in the classic noob colours where they had yellow head and arms, blue torso and green-yellow legs. Then, guests were given the similar appearance as the Roblox account including hats. So, it permitted guests to technically try accessories and had the Roblox account’s gears.
Gender options then were added where it permitted guests to be able to appear as BillyBloxxer or BettyBloxxer. The appearances of guests were the same as the Roblox user, but they had different hats depending on the gender selected. For BillyBloxxer, they wore the Red Roblox Cap. Meanwhile, BettyBloxxer, they wore the Pinktastic Hair.
On July 12th, the look of the guests were changed for the first time since 2011. The male guest namely BillyBloxxer put on a Roblox Jacket, black jeans and also the True Blue Hair. Meanwhile the female guest namely BettyBloxxer, was the same as the male guest, but it put on the Lavender Updo Hair. How about DefaultGuest? It looked the same as both the other guest types, but it was bald.
On September 13th, 2016, there was a change again to the appearance of guests. They began to put on the Robloxian 2.0 package and the DefaultGuest began putting on the Roblox “R” Baseball Cap. After that, exactly sixteen days later, guests had R15 body.
A new logo was introduced by Roblox. By introducing the new logo, the shirt of the guests also changed where it became the new Roblox Logo Jacket on January 16th, 2017. On July 1st, 2017, guests sometimes came up with grey skin and a random torso colour because of the default clothing update in Roblox.
The Removal of Guest Feature in Roblox
As explained on Roblox Wiki, on October 2nd, 2017, Guests were not supported anymore. Sometimes, guests were able to join by using a glitch. With a glitch, people were permitted to play as a guest and it happened until November 2018.
Knightgaladeld made a statement that the reason for removing guests was to increase the number of users in Roblox.
