Reading Room and Level Up in Raz-Kids – Here’s Difference
To know the difference between reading room and level up in Raz-Kids, you have to learn what reading room and level up are.
The Reading Room
The Reading Room is where the students are able to access reading resources for reading practice and enjoyment. The Reading Room makes it easy for the students to discover level books by category, popularity and topic. In addition, the students have the ability to save their favorite books for easy access anytime. If you are a teacher on Raz-Kids, then you are able to customize your student’s Reading Room experience in the Roster under the Raz-Plus tab.
Level Up!
Level Up! Consists of a collection of the books that the students are able to complete to advance automatically to the next Learning A-Z reading level. Automatically the students Level Up! after they listen and read all the books, and also pass the comprehension quiz with a score of 80% or higher. As a teacher, you are able to assign reading levels to the students and customize the listen version of books any time in the Classroom Roster.

The space-themed portal is available via KidsA-Z.com and on the Kids A-Z mobile app. - My Assignment
The students are able to go to the My Assignment area for completing activities which you have digitally assigned. - Flight Check
Flight Check appears for the students when you assign them a digital assessment, such as a digital Running Record using the Benchmark Passages or Books. Digitally you are able to assess a student’s reading level, ability to name letters, and also ability to recognize high-frequency words. - Messages
The students are able to use the dashboard to navigate to messages from the teacher or their parents and to see notifications when they earn badges. As a teacher, you are able to send the students messages and award them bonus stars from the Roster. Also, the parents are able to send messages from the Parent Portal. - Star Zone
The students will be able to earn stars by completing activities. They are able to spend their stars by customizing their avatar in the Avatar Builder, or Raz Rocket in the Star Zone. As a teacher, you are able to turn these incentives On or Off in the Classroom Roster under the General Tab. - Stats
The students are able to check their own reading progress and the badges in Stats. As a teacher, you are able to check the student progress from the Activity Report. - Badges
Badges will reward the students for achieving milestones and incentivize them for completing more activities. These badges are going to assist the student’s set goals and become more engaged in their learning.

How to Customize the Reading Room in Raz-Kids?
As a teacher, you have the ability to customize the Reading room by selecting which reading levels and content categories students can see. By default, in the reading room, the students are able to access books three levels below and also two levels above their assigned Learning A-Z reading level. Aside from that, by default, the students have the ability to access English and Spanish books.
How Does a Student Use the Reading Room?
For those who are new students in Raz-Kids, you may not know more about the reading room and how you use the reading room. Do not worry, redesign of the Reading Room in Raz-Kids makes it easier than ever for you to quickly discover level-appropriate books by category, topic, and popularity. Dynamically the home page of the Reading Room displays the books which students have accessed recently, the most popular books at their reading level and books students have marked as favorites. Besides that, the home page of the Reading Room displays specific topics aligned with their favorite books.
Topics & Categories in the Reading Room
What are topics and categories in the Reading Room? You have to know that all leveled books in the Reading Room are organized into some topics, including Explorers, Animals, Strange and Wacky, and more. If you are a student, you are able to discover leveled books by choosing the topics which most interest you. Typically, the topics presented in the Reading Room are populated dynamically. Also, the content displayed within each topic on the Reading Room is personalized based on the books each student has favorited most. As a student, you are able to find a full list of topics by clicking the Topics icon.
The students also are able to discover resources by selecting different categories of books, such as Graphic Books, Passages and Packs, Nonfiction Series, and more. Content collections are presented based on level range, making sure you are able to access the content easily which is most educationally appropriate for them.
About Raz-Kids
Raz-Kids is a teaching product which provides comprehensive leveled reading resources for the students. With hundreds of eBooks offered at 29 different levels of reading difficulty, it is easy to put the right content for every student.
The students are able to access their leveled text via an interactive learning portal which is designed to keep them motivated and engaged. Every eBook is available in online and mobile formats, and also allows the students to listen to, read at their pace, and record themselves reading. Aside from that, the students are able to take a corresponding eQuiz complete with an extended answer response for testing comprehension and determine future instruction needs.
