Raz-Kids is a platform which provides hundreds of interactive, leveled eBooks where students can listen, read and record themselves reading. On Raz-Kids, parents have access to Raz-Kids so that they can check the progress of their children. But, how to grant parent access on Raz-Kids? Parents can access Raz-Kids where the access is given by the teacher.
Granting Parent Access on Raz Kids by Teachers
Teachers can involve parents in their student’s education on Raz-Kids and teachers can provide parent access by the things as explained below.

- Sending Home Information
Teachers have to send a letter to parents. In the letter, they have to explain how to log in from home through the Kids A-Z interactive learning environment. In the letter, teachers also explain how parents are able to monitor the activity of the student. Letters are able to be downloaded for the class as a single pdf file or as a zip file which contains individual pdf files for each student. - Providing Parent Access
The thing that teachers need is an email address to sign up parents from the Roster page.- First, the teacher needs to find the student on their roster.
- After that, they have to click on the edit icon.
- Then, they have to click on the Parent Access.
- At last, they have to add a parent’s email address.
- Sending Home Information
As a parent, you are able to request access. In case there is a parent who requests access from their student’s account, there is a red icon which can be seen beside the student’s name on the Roster page. The teacher needs to click the icon to approve parent access.
Parent Access
As a parent, you are able to use the Parent Portal on Raz Kids to check which books and activities that your child has completed. You can also monitor their progress and send them messages. The messages that you can send may be for cheering them up, reminding them of doing their assignments or giving them a compliment for their achievement.
As a parent, you are able to log into Kids A-Z as your child to request access. You have to click on the parents link which can be found at the top right of the page and then you have to follow the instructions to give an email address. The teacher of your child will have to approve the email address before you are able to see the information of your child.

- You are able to read a book aloud to your child.
- You can have your child read a book to you.
- You can try choral reading. It means that you read aloud together.
- You can do a buddy read. It means that you take turns reading aloud.
- You can practice with the Glossary or Words to Know. You can find the words in the text and then you can discuss how they are used. You can review the meaning of each word. You can draw pictures to represent each word. You can create sentences for each word. You can also practice spelling each word.
As you can read from the list above that the activities can be fun to do with your children at home. Those activities can make your children like reading books because they will think that reading books is a fun activity and not a boring activity.

According to the Raz Kids site, you are able to engage with your child by asking the questions below before, during and after reading a variety of texts.
Before Reading Book

- You can ask them what they think the book will be about and why they think that.
- You can ask them what the title tells them about the book.
- You can ask them what they already know about the topic of the book.
- You can ask them what questions that they have.
- You can ask them whether they think this story is real or imaginary.
- You can ask them who the author of the book is and whether they have read any other books by this author.
During Reading Book

- You are able to ask them what they think will happen next in the story.
- You can ask them why they think about it.
- You can ask them where and when the story takes place.
- You can ask them how they think the character will handle this situation.
- You can ask them why the character is like that.
- You can ask them the meaning of some words and how they know it.
After Reading Book

- You can ask them how they retell the story including parts from the start, the middle and the end.
- You can ask them about the questions that they want to ask the author.
- You can ask them about what they think are the most important events in the story.
- You can ask them how the character changes throughout the story.
- You can ask them how they would have solved the problem.
- You can ask them the evidence that they can find.
On Raz-Kids site, it is explained that research shows that students who use resources from Raz-Kids score higher on reading tests and they are more interested in reading than students who do not.
