Verizon Router will show the ‘Globe’ icon to represent the Power or Internet Light. When your router works normally and is connected to the internet, it will show the solid white light. If you find your Verizon Router shows the ‘Red Globe’ it indicates that there are a bunch of problems on your internet connection.

As a clue, there will be three signs of globe that Verizon Router shows to you, including:

    • Solid Red globe: When you see the solid red globe on your Verizon Router, it indicates that there are some problems connecting to the Internet.
    • Flashing Slow Red Globe: When you see the red globe flashing slowly like two times per second on your Verizon Router, it indicates that there is a problem with the gateway.
    • Flashing Fast Red Globe: When you see the red globe flashing fast  like four times per second on your Verizon Router, it indicates that your router is overheating. You can check if your router is upright and ensure there are no obstacles which prevent it from venturing properly.

There are some possible solutions that you can do to fix the the ‘Red Globe’ sign problem on your Verizon router, here are they:

Solution 1: Call your service provider

The first thing you have to do is to call your service provider and check for the service outage. You may also need to check Verizon’s service outage here check if there’s an outage in your area or not.

You just simply login with your login credentials to see Verizon’s outage. If you find that there’s a problem because of an outage, what you should do is to wait until your service provider  fixes your problem. If no outages occur, you may need to look for another solution.

Solution 2: Check for loose connections

You can also try to check and fix all loose connections, sometimes bad connections can be the main cause why the Red Globe sign appears on your Verizon router. To check for loose connections, you can look for any wires which are loose and connect them well.

You can also check if the connections are tight and connectors are in good shape. What you can do is to unplug all the cables, wait for 30 to 40 seconds and plug them back in.

Solution 3: Check for overheating

When your router is overheating, it will not function properly. On some occasions, it can be the main reason why the ‘Red Globe’ sign appears on your Verizon router. To check it, you can touch your router as the root cause of the error. If you find the result that your Verizon is overheating, you can try to unplug it from the power source and then wait for 5 minutes before you plug it back in.

Solution 4: Try to reboot your router

You can try to reboot your router if the problem is caused by software. Sometimes, resetting your router is what you should do to fix your internet connectivity issues.

It’s important to note, when you reset your router to factory settings, the previous settings will be automatically deleted. Aside from that, your router’s username and password will also be reset as well as your network name and Wi-Fi password will also be reset.

To reboot your Verizon router, you can unplug the router for 30 seconds. Then, you need to plug it back in after one minute. You should wait for the lights on your router to stabilize. You can now try to connect to the internet.

You will also have to give it up to 5 minutes to set itself. So, don’t be too hasty that it has not worked. You should know that your Verizon router will also power cycle if you press and hold the WPS button on your router for 10 seconds. Solution 5: Rest the ONT

ONT stands for Optical Network Terminal that can be caused by the Red Globe sign appearing on your Verizon router. If the solutions above cannot solve your problem, you can try to fix it by resetting the ONT.

To reset the ONT on your Verizon router, you can try to find the Alarm Silence button on the battery backup. You can then press and hold it for 15-30 seconds.

Solution 6: Reset your Verizon router to factory setting

This is the final solution if the Red Globe sign still appears on your Verizon router. As we’ve mentioned, if you reset your Verizon router to factory settings, it will remove your router username and password, Wi-Fi password and also network name.

Aside from that, resetting to factory settings will also remove all of your connected devices and reset the router. So, you will need to reconnect all the devices that are previously connected to your network using the new network name and wireless password, once you reset your Verizon router to factory settings and the router should be reconfigured.
