The Sanrio Amiibo Cards were released in 2016 for Animal Crossing New Leaf in a cross promotion with Sanrio. For note: Sanrio is a Japanese company that makes a range of products based around different cute characters. The Sanrio Amiibo Card is focused on a specific villager who takes inspiration from one of Sanrio’s characters. With the release of Version 1.9.0 of Animal Crossing New Horizons, now the Sanrio Amiibo Cards can be used to add the Sanrio villagers and their items to your island. How to get Sanrio Villagers and Items?
After you have the Sanrio Amiibo cards for Animal Crossing New Horizons, then you are able to invite each character to your campsite. Please choose Invite Amiibo from the NookStop terminal in your Resident Services building. Then, you have to scan one of the Sanrio Amiibo cards to have that villager visit your campsite. Also, you will be able to scan the villagers in Harv’s island to take screenshots of them.
After you have scanned a Sanrio Amiibo card, you will be able to order that character’s associated furniture and clothing. These will be listed in the Promotions tab in Nook Shopping, the same place you are able to find the recently added Mario items. Keep in mind that the fastest way to unlock the Sanrio items is to scan the villagers at Harv’s island, or scan the cards at NookStop, but not invite them to your campsite.
