Some people suggest that you have to avoid the Feline Gear Set unless you are a seasoned Witcher 3 veteran, but we say the benefits are too good to ignore for any player, even those just starting out.
The only downside to this Cat/Feline gear set is the fact that light armor will not absorb as much damage as medium or heavy armor. Otherwise, this set will give you a delightful boost to attack power and critical hit chance, also an opportunity to cause bleeding with each hit thanks to your two swords.

The witcher gear set only available after you have already downloaded the associated free DLC, this Wolven Gear Set is a set of medium armor and swords that gives the players a jack-of-all-trades choice regarding their equipment choices.
This wolf/wolven set will increase your attack power, adrenaline point gain, and also sign intensity all at the same time. However, it will not be able to reach the heights in any one category set by the other more focused gear sets. The versatility of the Wolf armor and weaponry means that it is a firm contender for the best gear set in the game of Withcer 3 for first-time players.

It not only giving excellent armor stats and resistance bonuses across the board, but also giving you an incredible strong bonus to your Quen sign usage if you upgrade it all the way. Need to know that Manticore gear set is only available in the Blood and Wine paid expansion. It features a set of medium armor and swords which can be discovered in Grandmaster variants. You have to reach Level 40 before you are able to make use of them.
Manticore Armor is about alchemy, improving your maximum toxicity and giving a bonus to alchemy charges and critical hit effects to your bombs if you equip the entire set. The swords are far more valuable, with each one possessing a +250 bonus to your Armor piercing, besides a strong critical hit damage boost and an opportunity to bleed. This is a powerful sword.

Griffin Gear is the first main set of the witcher gear that you can get access once you enter Velen and Novigrad. The main perk of this set is a decent buff to sign intensity with each equipped piece.
Viper/Serpentine Gear Set
-
- Types of Equipment: Silver Sword and Steel Sword (+ All Armor with Hearts of Stone DLC)
- The locations of Basic Sword Diagram: White Orchard (Suggested Level: 6)
- Venomous Silver Sword Associated Quest: “Whatsoever a Man Soweth” in Velen, (Suggested Level: 36)
- All Other Gear Associated Quest: “Open Sesame!” in Velen, (Suggested Level: 34)
This Viper Gear Set is an interesting set in the game, as the swords are actually included in the base game. However, you will need the Hearts of Stone paid DLC to get access to the Viper armor set, as well as the late-game Venomous variants of both swords.
Thanks to their poison chance, the swords are very useful in the early game. While the armor’s claim to popular is a best resistance in its class to poisoning. That is on top of several decent elemental and monster resistances too. But, it is rather too niche a gear set to rank really high in our tier list.
