Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a new game. It was released on November 10th, 2020 for some platforms and on November 12th, 2020 it was released for PS5. You may have heard that this game is in single player mode. But, does this game have co-op mode?
Does AC Valhalla have co-op?
You may expect that you can play Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in co-op mode. But, does this game have co-op? Well, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a single player action role-playing game. Here, you will play as Eivor, a woman or a man Viking that you choose. In the game, you will have to lead a village of Vikings in battles and raids to beat the Saxons. In the game, you are able to expand the village with new buildings from time to time. And even it can be changed if you decide to do it. Nevertheless, you will always play by yourself.
This game is a single-player game even though Assassin’s Creed Unity had co-op and other past Assassin’s Creed games have had online PvP modes. It means that you cannot play with your friends in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but you can help them in their battles with an online feature which features mercenary Vikings. This game cannot support local or online co-op play and even it has no multiplayer modes. However, we do not know in the future. Who knows that the developer will update the game with the addition of co-op mode and multiplayer mode. But for now, you have to be satisfied with this single player mode.
What is Co-op Mode in Video Games?
Co-op is short for Cooperation Gameplay. It is a feature in games which permit you to be able to work together as teammates. Usually, you and your team will work together to beat one or more non-player character opponents. In video games, this term is specific reference to multiple users on separate systems which get into the game of a single host user. Usually, co-op games do not refer to sharing input devices or using multiple controllers which are connected to a single console, but it may more casually infer it.
Co-op mode tends to imply gameplay through a network. The co-op players will join an existing game which runs on a game server through a local area network or wide area networks. Because of the complexity of video game coding, co-op games seldom permit network players and local players to mix.
In recent years, this mode has been obtaining popularity in video games and it happens as controller and networking technology has developed. Even on consoles and PCs, this mode becomes common
and there are a lot of genres of game including sports games, shooter games, real-time strategy games, and massively multiplayer online games which have co-op mode.
Co-op gaming also can be present in single player format. The player will work together with their previous plays to be able to complete a goal.
Is co-op different from multiplayer? We can say that co-op is a subcategory of game mode of multiplayer. And multiplayer covers all games where you can be more than one player in it. Co-op refers to a multiplayer game where you can play together with other players to be able to complete a goal against a non-player opponent. From this explanation, we can conclude that co-op is multiplayer, but multiplayer does not have to be co op.
Custom Raider Feature in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Even though Assassin’s Creed Valhalla does not support co-op mode, as you can see on the official website of the game, you are permitted to create your own custom raider. It can be accessed if you reach a certain part of the game. You are able to have a team of mercenary Vikings who you are able to share online with your friends. If then your friends use them in battle, you will receive rewards even when you are offline. You can also recruit the mercenaries of your friends to benefit their strength.
