Windows Package Manager and Winget tools are generally available and subject to significant changes before they become public. Microsoft does not disclose or warrant the information contained in this article
Windows Package Manager is a complete package management solution that includes a number of command line tools and services for installing applications in Windows 10. Windows Package Manager is a very effective way to download every software that you want.
Developers use the Wing Set command line tool to identify, install, update, delete, and personalize carefully selected application sets. Once installed, developers can access the pickup set via Windows Terminal, PowerShell, or the command line.
Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) may use Windows Package Manager as a distribution channel for software packages that include tools and applications. To send software packages (including .msix, .msi, or .exe installers) to the Windows Package Manager, activate the open source package notification store on Windows GitHub, where Microsoft can download ISV packet notifications. Decide which software package. To provide. Packaging Manager. The notification is checked automatically and is also seen manually.
What Is the Windows Package Manager?
Package Manager are common in Linux. Instead of searching for a program on the web, downloading the installer and hitting the wizard, you can make a quick command to find and install a program by name
For example, to install Microsoft Power Toy, you can open a terminal window and run winget install powertoys to configure the winget. This command will automatically detect, download and install the program without additional steps it’s ery simple.
Internally, Microsoft hosts its own software repositories and other organizations and individuals can host their own software repositories. This is an important feature that enhances the productivity of developers and system administrators, especially Linux.
This tool is currently aimed at developers, but one day Microsoft or third party developers will be able to quickly create a simple graphical tool to find and install applications. Similar to the Windows Store, but with access to all the Windows desktop applications that people use. It’s like chocolate but it’s located on Windows.

Windows Package Manager is an open source project available on AlfinTech GitHub account.
Overview
A package manager is a set of systems and tools used to automate the installation, upgrade, configuration, and use of software. Many package manager development tools are used to locate and install.
Ideally, developers use a package manager to determine the terms of the tools needed to develop a solution for a specific project. The package manager then installs and configures the tool according to the notification instructions. Package Manager reduces the time required to prepare media and ensures that the same version of the package is installed on the system.
Third-party package operators can use the Microsoft Community Package Manifest repository to increase the size of the application directory.
Installing process
Make sure you have Windows Package Manager installed on your computer first. Not particularly difficult, but there are some conditions that must be met. This guide assumes you’re ready to install and use, but thorough training can help if you need help downloading.
Once the installation is complete you can use the Windows Package Manager from the Windows PowerShell or PowerShell 7 command line, and you can also use these shells from the Windows Terminal application.
There are times when software downloads require greater convenience and may interfere with the automatic installation process. The easiest way is to make sure that the selected shell starts with administrative benefits by selecting Run as administrator from the context menu.
Installation is easy and contains a basic command to remember winget install <nameofpackage> all you need to know is the package name that have installed PowerToys by typing winget install powertoys into PowerShell as shown below.
Currently only installation is possible. To delete it, you have to do it the old way from the control panel, but I think the delete work will be somewhere in the roadmap be for example, Chocolate, an alternative package manager, Windows based.
So how do you find the package to download? The best place to start is GitHub’s Wing-Pickings collection. There are plenty of catalogs to build and a great third party source winstall.app.
An additional feature of installing an application without using Windows Package Manager to download a document that can be run from a website is the ability to install multiple applications simultaneously with a single command. This type of thing is especially useful for companies that host multiple computers at the same time but it is very convenient for home users, and winstall.app on this sample step illustrates it perfectly.

This is a fairly large team, but they will download and install 17 applications. There is plenty of time to view the location of each of the 17 downloads, download and launch the installer.
You can also create reusable scripts with a number of applications needed for specific purposes and you can download bulk documents or PS1 scripts from winstall.app for this purpose. The goal. Or you can create online or from scratch.
If you want to see more information about the download package, a simple command that shows the complete documentation of what it is and where it came from
winget show <nameofpackage>
If you want to get a closer look at Windows Package Manager, type a terminal to open a list of all available commands.
winget –help
Although not yet complete, it is a really impressive tool that can continue to evolve and it is great to see Microsoft using these tools.
In the future, Microsoft will add additional features to Windows Package Manager and make it more powerful. Even in the first release, the Wing screen looks like everything that OneGate always expected before the release of Windows 10.
With proper developer support, you can also use the Graphics Package Manager, a Windows Store full of desktop applications that you really want to use.
