About Battlefield 2042
Battlefield 2042 is the seventeenth installment of the Battlefield series. On June 9th, 2021, the game was revealed and then on November 12th, 2021 the game was released for EA Play members and people who bought the Gold and Ultimate Edition. On November 19th, 2021, the game was released worldwide for PS4, Microsoft Windows, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X and Series S.
This Battlefield game is multiplayer and it has no single-player campaign. This game has support for cross-platform play and it is the first in the series. After this Battlefield 2042 game was released, there were mixed reviews from critics.
In this game, it is set in the near future. There are futuristic weapons and gadgets like deployable turrets and drones. Not only that, there are also vehicles that players are able to commandeer. Players have the ability to request a vehicle air-drop to any location.
In the game, players are introduced to a Plus system. It permits players to be able to customize their weapons on the spot. Players are able to assume control of a specialist who falls under the four traditional Battlefield gameplay classes of Engineer, Assault, Recon and Medic. These characters are able to wield all the weapons and gadgets players have unlocked.
Unique skills and gadgets are owned by each operator. For example, one of the specialists, Emma Sundance Rosier, is equipped with a wingsuit and Maria Falck is equipped with a healing pistol.
In Battlefield 2042, Levolution and destructive environments from Battlefield 4 return. There are als extreme weather effects such as sandstorms and tornadoes which affect gameplay. At launch, there are seven maps in the game.
There are three main gameplay modes in the game. All-Out Warfare covers Breakthrough and Conquest, two staple modes of the series as explained on Wikipedia.
In Conquest, two teams can combat against each other to get control points. If control points in a sector are captured, the team will be able to control said sector. In Breakthrough, a team needs to try to capture the control points of another team. Meanwhile, another team needs to defend them.
PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X and Series S versions support 128 players. Meanwhile, the PS4 and Xbox One versions support 64 players. As explained earlier, Battlefield 2042 has support for cross-platform play with the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions and it is for the first time in the series. The PS4 and Xbox One versions also support the feature, but it is restricted to only players on the two aforementioned platforms.
In the game, there is also another main mode namely a community-driven platform named Battlefield Portal. It permits players to create customized multiplayer modes and has select maps from past Battlefield games. Besides, players can also modify core gameplay elements such as weapon loadouts, health, and movement through a web-based scripting application.
Cooperative multiplayer mode called Hazard Zone is another mode that you can find in this game. In this mode, players will be divided into different teams and they need to compete with each other to retrieve and extract data drives from the debris of fallen satellites.
