How to Customize Student Access in Raz-Kids

How to Customize Student Access in Raz-Kids?

As a teacher, you are able to customize your classroom or individual student’s experience in Raz Kids to meet their needs.

Here are steps to change Raz Kids settings in your classroom:

Step 1: You have to log in to www.raz-kids.com by using your username and password.

Step 2: After that, you have to navigate to the Roster page from the Manage Students Action Button (provide screenshot of pop up) navigate to the Roster page from the Manage Students Action Button

To make class wide changes, you are able to use the following step 3:

    • Choose In the All Students row, under the Book Room column, you are able to choose Customize.  choose Customize
    • After that, slide the silver bars at the end of the rainbow level range to indicate specific levels each student should have access to in the Book Room. Or, you are able to select a number from each drop-down menu to give permission to a number of levels above and below each student’s current reading level. This is going to apply to all students in the classroom, regardless of their assigned level, and also will adjust as they progress via the program. How to Customize Student Access in Raz-Kids
    • Now, you are able to repeat for Spanish Leveled Books and Trade Book Quizzes if you want your students to access those resources as well.
    • Please turn additional book categories on by choosing or deselecting the radio boxes in front of each book type. For your information, Hint is to preview books and navigate to the Raz-Kids “Resource” drop down menu. This is going to give you a great opportunity to explore additional book categories and preview the student experience.
    • After completing your choices, you have to choose the orange “Save & Close” button to update each student’s access immediately.

    • Then, you have to select Edit next to the student’s name.

Parent Access

As a teacher, if you want a better way to involve the parents in a student’s education, now you are able to provide parent access.

    1. Send Home Information

Send a letter to the parents that explains how to log in from their own home through the Kids A-Z interactive learning environment. Also, the letter explains how parents will be able to monitor the student’s activity. The letters are able to be downloaded for the class as a single pdf file or as a zip file containing individual pdf files for each student. Please login to download the letter to the parents.

    1. Provide Parents Access

You will only need an email address to sign up the parents from the Roster page.

    • Please find the student on your roster.
    • After that, click the edit icon.
    • Then, click “Parent Access.”
    • Lastly, you are able to add a parent’s email address.

Also, the parents are able to request access. If a parent requests access from the student’s account, a red icon will appear next to the student’s name on the Roster page. Just click the icon to approve parent access.

For those who are parents, you are able to use the Parent Portal to see which books and activities your child has already completed, monitor their own progress, and send them messages. Aside from that, you are able to log into Kids A-Z as your child to request access. Just click the “Parents” link at the top right of the page and then follow the instructions to provide an email address. Your child’s teacher is going to approve the email address before you are able to see your child’s information.
