According to the Assets Website Files site, Securus Technologies determines the cost for off-site visits and not the Hancock County Justice Center. You can make the payment to Securus Technologies with a credit or debit card through the Securus Technologies website so that you are able to enjoy video visitation with your inmate.
According to the Dekalb County Sheriff website, remote online visitation or at home visitation costs $5.00 for each session for 30 minutes. In the Texas Department of Criminal Justice website, it is also explained that the cost for Securus remote video visitations is $10.00 for 60 minutes. This remote video visit is set in advance when it will start and end. In the Dekalb County Sheriff website, it is also explained that inmates will be limited to one remote video visitation per month. If the start times are delayed, sessions will not be extended. If the session is not started in 15 minutes of the scheduled start time, you will be required to reschedule.
Technical Specifications for Video Visitation with Securus
When you do a video visitation, you have to make sure that you have a high speed internet connection. By having high speed internet connection, you will have the best quality of video visitation. You need to have 256kb minimum upstream and downstream speed. To test the network speed, you can do that by accessing speedtest.net.
To do a video visitation, you are able to use Windows XP, 7, 8 or 10 with Firefox or Internet Explorer 9, 9, 10 or 11. The performance for IE 9, 10, and 11 can be optimized by adding “securustech.net” to Compatibility view settings. You also have to make sure that the latest java software is installed. If the camera that you use does not work, you are able to fix it by uninstalling all Java versions, rebooting your PC and installing the latest version of Java. Scheduling a Remote Communication Session

- After that, you will go to a page where you have to scroll and discover Securus Video Connect. After you discover it, you have to click on the Schedule Session.
- Now, you are in the Schedule A Session page and on this page, under the Remote Session, you are required to click on the Schedule Session.
- Here, you need to search for the inmate. You need to enter the first name of the inmate and also last name and then hit the Find Inmate button.
- There will be the result that is given for you and you must select the suitable one and then click on the Next button.
- Now, choose your relationship with the inmate, duration for the video session, and also date and time.
- In this step, you need to click on the “I have read and agree to the Terms and Condition” box and then hit the Next button.
- Now, you will go to the Billing Address page. You need to check it and if it is correct, you need to click on the Submit button.
- After that, you will go to the Confirmation page and then you need to click on the Finish button.
About Securus Video Connect
There is a feature from Securus which permits you to be able to connect with your incarcerated one from anywhere. The name of the feature is Securus Video Connect where it is a fully web-based visual communication system which gives family members, friends, attorneys and public officials permission to schedule and take part in video sessions with an inmate from anywhere by using internet connection and also Securus App, computer or tablet.

What Are Onsite Video Session and At Home (Remote) Video Session?
In Securus, there are onsite video sessions and at home video sessions or remote video sessions. An onsite video session is the same as standard visitation where it is held through the glass except that you will travel to the jail and visit with your inmate using a touchscreen terminal located at the correctional facility’s visitation center. If you want to do an onsite video, you are able to schedule your visit online in advance so that it permits you to visit when it is comfortable for you.
Meanwhile, at home video sessions can also be scheduled in advance and it enables you to visit the inmate from home or anywhere else by using your Android or Apple smartphone or a computer with webcam and internet access. If you want to do this video visitation, you are able to share life events from anywhere so that it is the most convenient communication option that you can choose.
