According to the Driver Easy site, here are the methods that you are able to apply for fixing audio cutting out issues.

Fortnite Audio Issues Cutting Out - Here is the Best Solution

Disabling Audio Enhancements in Windows

Audio enhancement packages have an aim to enhance your audio performance. However, sometimes this feature can cause issues with the audio and sound. So, you can try to fix it by disabling audio enhancements as explained below.

    • The first thing that you have to do, in the right-bottom toolbar, you have to right click on the volume icon and then you have to choose Open Sound settings.
      choose Open Sound settings
    • Then, you have to click on the Sound Control Panel on the right side of the window.
Click Sound Control Panel on the right side of the window.
    • In the Playback tab, you have to double click on the speaker you are currently using. Alternatively, you are able to choose the device and then click on the Properties.
      double click on the speaker
    • In the Properties window, you have to choose the Enhancements tab and you must check the option Disable All Enhancements.
      select the Enhancements tab
    • Now, you are required to choose the Advanced tab. You must click on the down arrow and select the first value 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality) on the list.
      choose the Advanced tab
    • After that, you have to click on the Apply > Ok.

Updating Your Audio Driver

If the method above does not work, you can try this method. The audio problem can happen because you are using an audio driver which is out of date. Let’s say that you do not remember when the last time you updated your drivers. If so, you have to update it now.

If you choose to update your audio driver manually, you can do that via Device Manager or download and install the driver from manufacturers. To do that, here are the steps to take.

    • You have to press the Windows logo key and R at the same time to open the Run dialog box.
    • Then, you have to type devmgmt.msc and then press Enter.
    • Now, you have to double click on the Audio Inputs and Outputs to expand the list. After that, you have to right click on your microphone or audio driver and then you have to choose the Update driver.
    • In this step, you have to click on the Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software.

Note that if you update a driver via Device Manager, it may be easier. However, Windows may fail to provide a new driver. So, you are able to search and download the latest audio driver from manufacturers.

You are able to access the website of the manufacturer or the audio card’s website to check for the newest audio driver for Windows 10. Are you using a branded computer? If so, it is better for you to go to the PC manufacturer’s website first because they may customize the driver. Before you start, you have to ensure that you know the model of your PC or the device model and the specific OS that you are using.

If you choose to update your audio driver automatically, it is recommended. It is because updating drivers manually is able to consume a lot of time and is risky since you must find the right driver corresponding with your system.

To update your audio driver automatically, you can choose Driver Easy where it is a useful tool which can automatically detect, download and install the correct or missing drivers for your system. Here is how it works.

    • First, Driver Easy must be downloaded and installed by you.
    • After that, you have to run Driver Easy and then you have to click on the Scan Now button. Driver Easy will scam your computer and detect any issue drivers.
    • Then, you have to click on the Update All to automatically download and install the right version of all the drivers that are missing or out of date on your system.
    • After your driver is updated, then you have to restart your computer so that it can take effect.

Verifying Your Game Files

If the methods above also cannot fix the issue, you can verify your game files by following the steps below.

    • You have to navigate to the game in your Library and then you have to click on the three dots. After it is opened, then you have to click on the Verify in the drop-down navigation.
    • This process may take a few minutes to verify all your files and the length may depend on the size of the game. After the process is done, then you have to click on the Launch to start your game.

Disabling Fullscreen Optimizations & High DPI Scaling

This is a Windows 10 feature which is created to improve your PCs performance during gaming sessions. However, there are certain games that are specifically affected by low FPS issues when players permit fullscreen optimizations. When you enable this feature, you may face other issues including the audio cutting out. So, you can try to fix it by disabling fullscreen optimizations & high DPI scaling.

    • You have to open the installation folder of your game. Usually, the location is in C: drive > Program Files > Epic Games > Fortnite > Binaries > Win64.
    • Then, you have to navigate to FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.dll. You have to right click it and choose the Properties.
    • Now, you have to choose the tab Compatibility tab and then check the option Disable Fullscreen Optimizations. After that, you have to click on the Change High DPI Settings.
    • Now, you have to check the option Override high DPI scaling behavior and then you must click on the OK.
    • Here, you have to click on the Apply and then choose Ok to save the changes.

Now, you have to do the same with FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping_BE, FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping_EAC and FortniteLauncher.
