Apparently, it is different from the mystery islands that Dodo Airline have been able to take since launch. Those mysterious islands are going to offer some new special items which cannot be discovered on your home island, such as new kinds of flora: Vines and Plumeria bushes. Also, there might be new kinds of fruits.

ACNH Boat Tour is able to take you to the Islands that have different weather or seasons than your home island. In an example, when your date is arranged to July in the Northern Hemisphere, then you are able to visit an island in Winter that lets you catch some bugs or fish. Taking the ACNH Kapp’n Boat Tour and Visit Islands

You will be able to take the ACNH Boat Tour with Kapp’n by visiting your island’s Pier in the bottom left or bottom right of the map, depending on the layout. You have to walk up to Kapp’n on the Pier. He will ask you for a fee of 1,000 Nook Miles currency per round-trip to an island. You do not need to purchase Nook Miles Tickets for Kapp’n. Remember that you are just able to set sail with Kapp’n for an island once per in-game day. For those who are impatient players, they are able to time travel to get ahead if they want.
